Place to leave cellphones

Hi! My interview is already on the 29th of April and I am planning to go to the US Embassy alone. So if I go alone, I don’t have someone to carry my phone for a while when I am inside the embassy. Where do applicants leave their phone during the appointment? Or do I need to have someone come with us and hold on to our gadgets for the meantime until the appointment is finished? Thanks so much for the replies!

The security staff likely has lockers/areas to keep your phone while you're inside the embassy. That's how it is in Sweden among other places.

I guess this is still true now as it was 6 years ago, at least for non USCs.

At tht time, I saw people outside hawking cell storage for a fee. I had someone waiting for me so cell storage was not an issue. Your options are to have someone come with you, to leave your cell at the hotel or worst case, to trust the hawkers your phone, (unless you have a very cheap non smartphone). One thing though, make sure you don't have any techie stuff in your bag (like usb drive) because they will still deny you entry.

Good luck!

Not how it works in Manila.   Lockers are for USC use only

YMMV

Many leave in there hotel room,  have someone come with, or pay someone outside the embassy to hold for you

US Embassy in the Philippines doesn't have lockers. It's best to leave the cellphone behind completely. Or bring someone to hold it. Or take the great risk at the 7-11 across the street that has a pay storage system in place. Source my wife who has done two j-1 programs

Options are minimal for storing a cell phone.  Bring someone along.  Trust the old lady outside the embassy, or leave it home/at the hotel.

As for the one suggestion that the embassy offers storage, that only applies to USC coming to the embassy not visa applicants.

leave in your hotel or bring it with you and trust the lady outside the Embassy (if you do this) don't forget to give her a tip, she love it specially if you pass your interview 😆😆

Thank you all for the advice. Apparently I really need to bring my phone with me since I use it for carpool services to get to the embassy and back. I’m not booking a hotel for the interview so I’ll just bring someone else with me.

7-11 Across the street on Roxas Blvd?

There are many 7/11 close to USEM, I don't remember seeing one across the street.  Is it near the JCO Donut place or closer to the walk over bridge?
