Hello everyone,

I’m currently gathering the supporting docs for my AOS/ EAD/ AP application. Understood that a certified copy of marriage certificate is required for AOS, but l’m not 100% sure for the other two applications.

My question is -  Do I need to submit another 2 certified copies of marriage certificate for my EAD and AP applications?

Thanks in advance!

A photocopy of the original MC will do.

One definitely for each I485, I765, I131. I got an RFIE for them losing two of my copies.

Photocopy is mailed in and an original certificate is brought to AOS interview.  Bring another photocopy to interview and do not surrender the original.

I sent in one "original"  for the i485 and 2 copies for the rest. Original in quotes because it is a copy from the city hall with an apostille on it.

At my AOS interview the IO asked me why did I send in 3 for everything and I said that it's basically three application and read that ppl got RFE because not sending 3.

Btw she gave back a bunch of copies because she said it's not needed but she can't throw them out so she gave it back...

I didn't want to argue, but for sure I read it here that ppl got RFEs because of not sending a copy for each application....

So who knows. Worst case they'll give it back :)))

I was one who got an RFIE for evidence of name change.

I sent three (all photocopies) and they lost my two for the I765 and I131 so resent 2 more photocopies. Approved after sending them but it delayed me 31 days.

That's why I state to always send three. One for each.

I totally agree with you! Better be safe than sorry.
