Hello,

A couple of weeks ago, I received the congratulation letter in the USA embassy as my DV was approved by the consular officer during the interview last Month. However, I have not yet got the issued visa status although the case status was already updated within a week after the interview and remained Ready not AP for weeks till now!!!

Was the approval decision in the interview final?

May the file review by an officer result in a conclusion different than the approval earned during the interview?

What are the procedures usually taken by them during such time?

How is this situation (Ready status) different than Administrative Processing?

Advise about this situation, please!

Thanks in advance.

Nothing is final/definite about the visa until the visa is issued. It is possible to be told approved at the interview and later refused the visa because they discovered an issue during final processing. It's not common, but has certainly happened.

The case is in Administrative Processing. Sometimes the CEAC online tracker shows "Ready" or even "Application Received", but all activities between the interview and a final decision are part of administrative processing.

AP is a normal part of processing. It would be speculation to state any specific reason for your particular case has not been issued yet. Background checks? Document verification? Visa printer issues (yes, this is possible)? It could be any of those or something else entirely.

What consulate did you interview at?

I have been in a similar situation with my family since our interview in December. We have neither no communication from the consulate nor any updates on the case. What would you suggest I do as it's been almost 6 months since interview and status shows READY for all of us.

I have seen somewhere that we can make a formal request for feedback after 90 working days, can I do that? I was interviewed in Accra. My case was approved at the interview, I have a clean record with no prior travelling experience with my family.

@totobio you can certainly contact the embassy and ask for an update, not sure what you mean by “formal request”.

Thanks @SusieQQQ, however my embassy in Accra is not very charitable with feedback. My quest for a formal compliant was to send an email to the applications processing agency (USTRAVELDOCS). I have sent three emails and have made 2 calls to ustraveldocs, the emails have not been responded for about 2 weeks now and my calls received some feedback. They said they were escalating my case and that I should expect feedback via email in about 48 hours, its been a little over a week now.

I do not know what to do again as all our passports have been with the consulate since December.
