Vaccinations for K-1 visa

My fiancé is Canadian and is struggling to get her medical records for the vaccinations. Apparently there are a few that they will not give her because they only give them to the elderly, are all of the vaccinations on the Consulate website a requirement? Is there any way to contact the consulate and ask them about the vaccinations that are absolutely needed? (There’s like 4 she is being told she can’t get)

~~Moved to the Canada forum, from K1 P&P - As Canada is one of the only countries that requires immunizations to be up to date.~~

 

 

She would only need the ones that are age appropriate. I don't have the chart on hand and about to get the rugrats to bed, but I'm sure someone will list the ones she needs.

This is a link to the faq's for medical info, it has a whole list of vaccination requirements...my Canadian fiance was just at Fraser health on Monday requesting his records and apparently in Canada they aren't easy to come by. The person he talked to there said that when it comes time for his medical appointment that he can be given boosters if there is anything questionable.

Canada, Age 18-64 required vaccines:

 

Tdap (within the last 10 years)

MMR (x 2)

Varicella (or proof of immunity/that she has chicken pox - I used a blood test)

Influenza (right now it's not in season so you don't need it)

Yeah I found all the vaccinations she needs on the Montreal consulate site and sent them to my fiancé and she was like “I NEED ALL OF THOSE?!” And she called public health today and they said without her shot records they couldn’t give her any of the vaccinations. So she’s trying to find them right now. But she was told that many of them are age specific, she’s like “I had chickenpox, do I still need the vaccination?” I said I don’t think so

Just yesterday I phoned the public health unit in both the city I live in now (for my most recent tetanus shot info) and the town I grew up in (for all of my childhood vaccinations) to get my immunization records. In both cases they just verified my identity with a couple of questions and said 'OK I've located your records, would you like to pick them up or would you like them mailed?' 

I'm not sure where your fiancé is located, but if she is in Ontario the public health department should have her vaccination records on file and it shouldn't be an issue for her to obtain them.

Also...she can get a titer test for varicella, it will show whether she has had chickenpox and has the antibodies in her system, she can ask for this test from her doctor.

I just had this conversation with the nurse practitioner at my doctors office last month...hope that helps

Good luck to her getting the records if she doesn't already have them somewhere at home. Mine was told that records are only kept for so long...he was born in 72 and chances are he won't be able to get records from that far back. But as I said, he was told that he would be able to get vaccinated at his medical interview if anything is questionable...it will just cost extra.

She is in Alberta however she is from Saskatchewan originally. Alberta says they have no records of vaccinations for her and she couldn’t get anyone at SK to answer.

If you can not find records you can go to your doctor and ask them to do titer tests to verify whether you have had these immunizations. This is done by just simply drawing your blood.

You don’t need proof of chicken pox; a verbal affirmation you’ve had them is enough (you can email the place where you will have your medical if you’re concerned; I had emailed Dr. Cheema’s office prior to my medical to make sure).

I was also told that I may not be able to get mine as I was born in 1973 but they were still on file.
