We received our Case# and invoice ID# within 2.5 weeks.  I don't understand their system.  The first time I called, the person I spoke to asked me to call back in 6-8 weeks.  I called right back the next week & was given my numbers.  I would try calling again.

should have been able to get it from calling by now

always am amazed by this  process (if i can call it that)

it should be a step by step

  1. file
  2. they receive
  3. they cash check
  4. they imput documents
  5. they assign to an officer the packet
  6. the office reviews
  7. if RFE is needed,  you are informed
  8. after RFE is answerd and is approved case goes to NVC
  9. NVC receives
  10. NVC assigns case number
  11. officer imputs data into that case in order that cases are received

I realize the number of applications is up by over 2 million from a few years ago but more applications means more fees

more fees mean larger budget

larger budget should mean more employees

but unforunately illegals pay no fees and we pay for them

At this time it’s taking exactly 8 weeks. Our 8 weeks was February 4 and they sent email February 1. Everyone I was tracking was on the same timeline.

That's because you are K1! You guys get them faster than CR1/ IR1! Best of luck :)

I am at the 6 week mark too!  CR1 and IR1 are different than K1.  The K1 filers get case numbers in 2-3 weeks whereas we wait 6-8.  Frustrating for sure, but you should be getting one in the next 1-3 weeks.

NVC emailed us after 6weeks and 3 days.. i was relieved.

Just to update you all, I got my case number tonight at 11pm!! I had a very strong feeling I was getting the case number today, I even brought some of the civil docs to work this morning so I could upload them to the computer so they would be ready. Does anyone know why I'm getting a message on CEAC that the number doesn't match their records?? Is it too soon to be trying to log in??

What is K1? I’m an American citizen and I petitioned for my husband after I130 approval. It took about 7 weeks for us.

K1 is the fiancé visa. Their process is a little different. I did CR1 with an i130 like you and my case number also took about 7 weeks

It happened to me too. I tried to login to CEAC almost immediately after I got the case number in the email and got the same message... I waited about 10 minutes then it let me log in.

I called NVC and they said they have no time frame nor rhyme or reason for it.  Their system is lagging in recognizing new case numbers from the past week or so.  Seems like the majority 02/20 and later.  Mine still doesn't work.  They said they're working on it, but I don't know when.  Wish they'd hurry up.

In another thread others are saying that numbers that are 8 digits and begin with a 1 are able to log in. Numbers that begin with a 3 are not able to.

Someone else called and and discovered they were missing a digit.

I thought all NVC case numbers started with 2019
