I heard from people that being USC actually help parents to get their tourist visa easier. I guess I have been mislead 😓

Unfortunately, not.  Having a USC or LPR child is more of a reason to not return to their country.  The only thing the tourist visa interview is about is whether and why the person will leave the US when they are supposed to.

Hey,

I helped apply for my parent's visa in Indonesia. What is most important to them is your mum show strong ties with Indonesia. So what you can do it to bring documents like proof of her employment/her owning the company, bank statements, and any assets (houses, companies, properties, etc) that shows ties with Indonesia. I saw that you are providing a letter that states that you will be supporting her for her stay which is good.

Also, I helped apply for my cousin to come visit me a couple of years ago when I was studying as F1 student visa. She got denied the first time but got approved of tourist visa the second time. Just be honest with the officer on why she got denied and I am sure she will get the visa the second round :)

Thats what I heard..second time will be “easier” per say to get approve and we need to wait for at least a year (which we are) to re-apply. We are gathering informartion and documents right now so we can apply in march! *fingercross*

It will only be “easier” if circumstances - by which I mean ties to home - have improved.

its incredible how much urban legend there is around the process of tourist visas. “I heard” “ they say” “I read on the Internet” ...

I would think because they already have her record..thats my only guess. And from that 2017 until now for my mom case she has been traveling (SE asia and China) and this time she will try to be more persistent showing her documents. But again, there is no guarantee. We just all gambling right now.

Her “record” includes a denial and “they say” (with reason) that it’s usually harder to get a visa with a denial on record.

Persistence in showing documents is irrelevant. She can’t force them to look at anything. All the information they generally need is on the DS160. They may ask to see something as back-up to something on the DS, but they don’t have to.

I’m assuming she doesn’t have kids in SE Asia or China? Just pointing this out because while “they say” travel history helps - that’s only the case sometimes. Remember that the US CO has to assume immigrant intent by law, and having a USC child tilts that assumption further. This is why people keep asking what more she can show about her ties to home, because she needs to tilt that assumption the other way.

I think it depends on the situation but they do appreciate honesty so if they pop the question om why your visa gets denied you have to answer honestly. I think the most important thing for the 2nd interview is to prove an even stronger ties with your home country and be honest to the interviewer

They probably know more about why it got denied than the applicant

applicant will get a notation with section of law it was denied under, and that’s normally all they have - that’s why we get so many posts on here asking “why was I denied”...

the record the consulate has will detail why the CO decided that
