Hello,

My parents had Interview in Karachi Consulate for B1/B2 visa, officer told them that visa is approved and provided a slip stating that visa will be processed in 2-4 business days but its been 2 weeks and visa is in administrative processing? Is it usual now a days? Or its unusual? Thanks.

AP can occur anytime before the visa is printed, and once it is AP, it can take months even year so you can only be patient. Good luck.

Thank you for your reply but officer did not provide 221(g) form of administrative processing? He provide form of visa approval

Yes, when they wrap it up, something triggers AP.  Don't worry it will be fine soon.

The above is correct...AP can happen at any point prior to issuing the visa. AP covers any activities necessary after the interview.

Nobody can say with certainty why it is in AP except for the embassy, but presumably it's due to background checks.

  • 2 weeks later...

If the date changes some change was made to your file, example they received a report on a background check. The embassy itself doesn’t do most of the AP but the embassy is who updated on CEAC.
