Issues ignoring some user signatures?

Hello VJ'ers,

 

I'm having issues ignoring some user signatures. I don't want to ignore all signatures because many are fun and interesting, but others are huge and take up a lot of space. I'm running into an issue where, when I try to ignore certain signatures, I get an error message saying " There was a problem ignoring this member's signature."

 

I tried to solve this by going direct to the Account Settings, and typing in the username under Ignored Users, but when I enter that user's name I get another error message: "You are not allowed to ignore that member."

 

I'm confused and can't figure out why this is happening. If anyone has a solution, please let me know. It would be nice if people with hugely long and overly enthusiastic signatures used the spoiler hider thing, but we don't live in an ideal world..

as far as i know, you can either ignore users, or ignore all signatures.  i am not aware of being able to ignore individual signatures.

on your ignore list you can change what you want to ignore about that person.  I have all signatures turned off currently but i do have some on my ignore list to just ignore signatures.

I see, what's weird is....when I put in this specific user, it says "You are not allowed to ignore that member."  This is the part that is really confusing me because, not only can I not ignore their signature, I cannot ignore this particular user. It's very odd!

Actually, you can ignore individual signatures! There's a small "x" on the right hand side of signatures in the forums and you can click this to ignore specific signatures. I'm just having issues with ignoring this one person's signature and I don't know why.

Yeah it is, but actually I just kind of figured it out with my ad blocker, seems to block the parts of the signature I needed! The mod status might be why it wasn't working. The ad blocker seems to be taking care of it.

Yeah you're not allowed to block mods, even just signatures.

people have HUGE signatures so I have them all turned off.  It's the only way to get around the mod signature blocking

So basically it looks like you can either block individual signatures except for mods, block all signatures by turning them off or block certain images with an ad blocker (what I did), but if you just wanted to block some text from one long signature and it happened to be a mod, that's probably not really doable without turning off all signatures.

But if regular members are not able to block mod signatures----wouldn't just the mod signatures still show up even if the block all option was used by a regular member?  

 

In other words---all signatures would be blocked except the mod ones?  Or all as in ALL?

No.  I don't see anyone's signature.  None.  There's no option in the ignore menu to block out the parts they don't want you using.  So it's just not an option for mods.  But when everyone's signature is turned off, you just don't see signatures and that's not ignoring/blocking.

ALL.

 

essentially you turn signatures off and don't see anyone.  So you're not blocking "anyone" you just don't see any signatures, period.

It is the issue I complained about several times with no acknowledgement. I am willing to bet this is same "Organizer" user whose signature I want to ignore. I do not want a work around of "Ignore ALL signatures"

To do this the site admin has to recode the blocking feature to not allow people to click parts they arent allowed to block on certain classes of users.  Since this website is free, he may get to it, one day.  Considering there is a viable option but you dont like it.. well life is full of choices. C'est la vie.
