For those who have filed for AOS, when can you begin to travel out of the US?

we are hoping to visit the UK in May but not sure if we will be able to.

How has others experience been with this?

Once you have your AP (hopefully you filed your I-131 with your AOS).

Entry on VWP to visit then-boyfriend 06/13/2011

Married 06/24/2011

Our first son was born 10/31/2012, our daughter was born 06/30/2014, our second son was born 06/20/2017

AOS package mailed 09/06/2011 (Chicago Lockbox)

You can alway travel. 

 

But you cant come back until you have AP or green card. 

 

One of those basic informations you should know when filling for AOS... 

K1

29.11.2013 - NoA1

06.02.2014 - NoA2

01.04.2014 - Interview. 

AoS

03.2015 - AoS started.

09.2015 - Green Card received.  

RoC

24.07.2017 - NoA1.

01.08.2018 - RoC approved.

According to your timeline, you haven't yet submitted your AOS packet? I started my process earlier this month, and my estimated date of approval for AP and EAD is end of April. With that timeline in mind, if you want to travel back to the UK in May, you could be cutting it a little too close, and I wouldn't recommend booking anything until the AP is in hand anyway.

05/21/2021 [Day 14] — Check for $680 cashed

05/24/2021 [Day 17] — Text notification received & hard copy NOA1 in mail from Vermont Service Center (Received Date: 05/07/2021, Notice Date: 05/20/2021)

06/01/2021 [Day 25] — Case updated to show fingerprints were taken

06/05/2021 [Day 29] — Hard copy biometrics waiver received in mail (Notice Date: 06/01/2021)

11/08/2021 [Day 185] — Hard copy NOA1 received in mail to extend validity from 18 months to 24 months (Notice Date: 11/01/2021)

You can successfully travel and come back to the USA when you get your AP after you file for AOS. If you travel before that time you will not be allowed back in to the USA.

Per other VJ members who entered data, the average time from submission to approval of advance parole is 138 days.....

August 7, 2022: Wife filed N-400 Online under 5 year rule.

November 10, 2022: Received "Interview is scheduled" letter.

December 12, 2022:  Received email from Dallas office informing me (spouse) to be there for combo interview.

December 14, 2022: Combo Interview for I-751 and N-400 Conducted.

January 26, 2023: Wife's Oath Ceremony completed at the Plano Event Center, Plano, Texas!!!😁

February 6, 2023: Wife's Passport Application submitted in Dallas, Texas.

March 21, 2023:   Wife's Passport Delivered!!!!

May 15, 2023 (about):  Naturalization Certificate returned from Passport agency!!

 

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

How do u find your estimated date of approval?

When you complete your VisaJourney timeline, it generates and estimated approval date, which is based off of other users with similar timelines and the current processing times. You can also go on the USCIS site to see the priority dates they’re processing for I-131 or I-765.
