So my wife and I did the K-1, AOS, Green Card w/ Conditions, and now we're at the removal of conditions stage. I went online and there was a 595 fee (not including biometrics)..... Wasn't this stage free? Did the fees recently change or did I just not have it right the first time?

03/17/2016 - Consulate Received Case! (Shows "Ready" in ceac)

 

03/22/2016 - Sent in Packet 3 and scheduled interview before being sent Packet 4

 

03/23/2016 - Got sent Packet 4

 

04/05/2016 - Medical Interview in Vancouver

 

04/12/2016 - INTERVIEW DATE AT CONSULATE in Vancouver

 

04/12/2016 - APPROVED!!!!!!!!! Visa in 5-7 Days!!

 

04/15/2016 - VISA IN HAND

08/26/2016 - Received Tracking saying AOS package received.

 

09/01/2016 - Received Texts with MSC Receipt #s (cannot look them up at USCIS)

 

10/25/2016 - AED says "New Card is Being Produced". AP says "Case was Approved". AOS says "Case is Ready to be Scheduled for an Interview".

 

10/31/2016 - Received hard copy of AP in mail.

 

11/05/2016 - Received Employment Authorization in mail.

sorry to break your bubble, but this has always been a money pit. Immigration has been charging more and more every year also.

3/15/2018                  NVC case received

3/22/2018                  NVC case assigned

3/23/2018                  Consulate ready

4/11/2018                  Medical

4/17/2018                  Visa Approved

4/24/2018                  Visa on hand

5/23/2018                  Point of Entry ATL

5/24/2018                  Marriage license, officiant and certificate / applied for SS#

5/31/2018                  AOS/AP/EAD

6/7/2018                    email notification of NOA-1

6/11/2018                  NOA-1 hard copies for AOS/EAD/AP

7/7/2018                    ready to be scheduled for interview

9/5/2018                     We are still reviewing your case and there are no updates at this time (this is getting boring!!!)

10/3/2018                  We are still reviewing your case and there are no updates at this time (this is insanity, 4th time while some got GC)

10/17/2018                After 136 days of wait in HELL, finally EAD in production

10/21/2018                Card was mailed to me, and yes it said so on a Sunday night, while Vj-ing

10/22/2018                Card was picked up by the USPS

10/24/2018                EAD in hand. F%^&& finally

12/28/2018                Interview has been scheduled. Waiting for notification with date by snail mail

I  have to agree with the others is that whoever told you it's free is wrong, this process is never free.

This is why we advise here on VJ to learn everything from beginning (petition) to end (citizenship) including fees. ROC was never free in the process. In fact, very little is free in immigration.

 

BTW, it is $595 + $85 = $680

 

Also, just to give you a heads up, you will have to shell out another $725 for her to become a citizen after the ROC. However, naturalization  is an option.

I was just checking, didn't want to send the check if it wasn't required. It's just 600 dollars, not a big deal.
