Sydney K1 interview dates

Hi all,

While I've been looking at the timelines of other people who have  done the K1 journey from Australia, I've noticed a bit of a pattern in that it seems like the Sydney consulate conducts most of it's K1 visa interviews towards the end of any given month. Is that just a coincidence, or does the Sydney consulate actually wait to do K1 interviews in the last two weeks of the month?

Reason I ask is my medical is next week and I was hoping to jag an interview early next month.

Thanks.

Is there a reason you haven't scheduled your interview yet? I assume you get to schedule your own interview in Australia like in most other countries?

Since your medical is only a week away I would schedule the interview as soon as possible, check what dates are available.

K-1: 12-22-2015 - 09-07-2016

AP: 12-20-2016 - 04-07-2017

EAD: 01-18-2017 - 05-30-2017

AOS: 12-20-2016 - 07-26-2017

ROC: 04-22-2019 - 04-22-2020
Naturalization: 05-01-2020 - 03-16-2021

U.S. passport: 03-30-2021 - 05-08-2021

My case documents haven't left NVC yet, I just scheduled a medical ahead of my case arriving at the consulate.

Hey!

From my understanding Sydney generally only holds K1 interviews the last tuesday of each month.

Mine is scheduled for Oct 30, and K1 filers I've connected with on VJ before me had theirs September 25..

Again this is purely my observation, I have seen a couple mention they got offered an interview date mid Oct but I was given my interview date early Oct and it was for the 30th :)

Hope this helps!

Good luck with your medical!

Did you schedule your interview yourself, I am up to the stage and can't seem to see how to schedule the interview, I started assuming the interview date would be selected for us.

Also- are there any aussies out there who stuffed up and put melbounre as their consulate only to later find out they don't handle k class visas?

Has Sydney received your case?

Once they receive it they contact you by email to say it's been received and they request information from you - MRV receipt, DS160 confirmation etc..

Once you respond to that they then respond with your interview date and time :)

Thanks, I suspected as much given the patterns I was seeing. 😁

Well, hopefully NVC transfers my case to Sydney this week and I might have a shot for a interview this month 🤞 If not, I guess I'll have a lot of time on my hands in November 🙄

Yeah it looks like there's a monthly pattern!

I had another fellow Aussie get his interview this week for Nov 27th! So looks like Octobers all full up :( At least you'll have lots of time to prepare :)

Well, Nov 27 is the last Tuesday of that month so I'd say we're pretty bang-on.

#######, I'm pretty much already prepared, sitting around for a month with my thumb in my bum was what I was hoping to avoid. 🙄

Oh well, it is what it is.

I hope I get end of Nov... cant wait until end of December :(

I've filled out the DS160 but my case is still "in transit" ... I can't submit it until it changes to 'ready' right? And then do they email you to book the interview or do you book it yourself on the website?

K1 Visa NOA1:  March 2018

K1 Visa NOA2: Sept 2018

K1 Approved: Nov 2018 (184 days/6 months since NOA1)

Married 4th Jan 2019

AOS NOA1: 4th Feb 2019

Biometrics: 25th Feb 2019

AOS interview: Oct 2019 (261 days from NOA1)

EAD/AP NOA1: Feb 2019

EAD/AP Approved/Rc'd: Aug 2019 (196 days since NOA1)

The DS-160 has no baring "when to submit" but that submitting it before you are approved is not advantageous. You can submit anytime now.

I'm debating whether or not to send a preemptive email to the consulate and ask them if there's any possibility of getting an interview before the end of the month. There may still be a slim chance. My fiancee is practically begging me to beg them to take pity on me. 😅

From my research on people's timelines - Syd consulate seem to do k1s last Tuesday of each month. I also got my interview date this week and got Nov 27!

Was that the only date they gave you, or did you ask for the soonest possible date?
