I just filed my AOS with my wife for k1, and the USCIS already says the case is ready to be scheduled for an interview after a month. How long is the wait for them to send out a date for the interview? am i almost done with the adjustment of status at this point?

i filed it in early august

Did you have your biometrics appointment yet? If so you are lucky. Most people take 12-17 months. If you haven’t I’m afraid it may be a glitch in their system.

"Ready to be Scheduled" doesn't necessarily mean one will be scheduled immediately. Some people continue to wait a few months after it changes to that - it's typical after you've completed your biometrics. However, once the status changes to "Interview Has Been Scheduled", you should expect your interview summons in the mail within a few days.

Håll ut, y'all.

How far out do they typically schedule them?  Ours is in the mail but I'm pretty surprised at how fast it happened after the biometrics appointment

Once the interview has been scheduled, it seems like they're usually scheduled about a month out. In our experience, the case status online changed to "Interview Scheduled" on 8/11, and we got the letter in the mail 8/16. The interview is on 9/18.

It happens! It really comes down to your area/field office, as some offices are slower than others with production.

Yeah, sometimes you get lucky. Check my timeline in my sig below. Our package was received on June 1 this year, July 9 was the biometrics, and on Sept. 10 we had our interview and were approved, and the card is now in the mail. Total time only a little over 3 months. Others take more than a year. I assume it depends on the office you're dealing with, and how backed up they are.

March 30, 2017: I-129F Received by USCIS

April 19, 2017: NOA1

August 18, 2017: RFE Sent (Fiance intent to marry letter)

August 25, 2017: RFE Received

August 26, 2107: Evidence Sent

August 28, 2017: Evidence Received (Online Status Update)

September 5, 2017: NOA2 (based on website status update; no mail yet)

September 7, 2017: NOA2 Hardcopy received in US Mail

September 19, 2017: NVC Received case (based on phone call; received Case # and Invoice ID)

September 21, 2017: NVC Forwarded to embassy Manila

September 25, 2017: Embassy Received

September 29, 2017: NVC Letter Received in US mail (required for physical)

October 3, 2107: "OK to schedule interview" letter received from embassy via email

December 30, 2017: Medical Clearance

January 30, 2018: K-1 Visa Interview and RFE

March 8, 2018: K-1 Visa Approval

(...marriage and lots of happiness...)

May 25: Rejection notice for I-485/I-765 due to I-765 fees not required when filing both applications together

May 31: I-485/I-765 applications received by Chicago
June 22: Received letter saying biometrics is scheduled
July 9: Biometrics Completed
July 19: Online status updated to say "Ready to schedule interview"
Aug 1: Online status updated to say "Interview has been scheduled"
Aug 6: Received letter saying interview scheduled for Sept. 10

Sept 10: Interview complete, approved on the spot. USCIS Case Status website shows "we ordered your new card"

Sept 15: Online case status updated to say "Card was shipped on Sept. 13"

Sept 17: Green card received via USPS Priority Mail

We went from biometrics to "ready to be scheduled" in four days time so we hoped it would move quickly. We have been sitting at "ready to be scheduled" since May...   :(

We have been "ready to be scheduled" since mid-August.  Not expecting any change in that status with the Baltimore office until 2019.

Why do you think it will take that long? I am in MD too and really hoped things will move a little faster for us here... Where are you checking the local office est timelines and backlogs? Thanks!

There's a link (I don't have it at the moment) that gives estimates for each field office.  Baltimore was at 11.5 months.  However, since I wrote that post,  our interview was scheduled for October 23.  I can't believe we got an interview so quickly and I hope its a good sign for everyone else going through Baltimore.

Here's the link to USCIS estimates I mentioned -

Hopefully those times are coming way down soon.
