the USC does the application

Nothing happens if the beneficiary helps with the paperwork. As long as it's the petitioner's original signature on it, it's all good. :)

I think it's fine to make copies.

As i'm beneficiary and I have never worked outside the U.S because i was student and recently graduated.

Should i mention this in part 7 additional information ?

Because in i130a form they clearly stated .... if You have never worked outside the U.S provide this information in part 7 additional information ?

Should i ? Please

so should i leave every textbox blank ? or can i put N/A in 40.a and 40.b and 40.c ?

When a section has been rendered N/A by your previous answer, leave it blank.  The form actually forces that in some places anyway.  Advice to put something in every field is years out of date.

You should put Student as employment 2 history and put unemployed (or even Recent College Graduateas employment 1 if you have not found a job (yet).  Additional page for Part 7 normally used when you have had more number of jobs than the provided # slots.

Hi All,

First post - yippie! I would like to say that I use this site a good deal as of late, so thanks to everyone taking the time to help others. It is to that point I broke my own rule of never writing anything online to show thanks by answering something, which also stumped me.  I am not sure that I agree with the answers here about this one being a straight shoot and one should just simply leave this section blank.

As we all know, the template for the -130 on visajourney does list writing N/A to this question even when it does not apply to you, so I have to assume that is a best practice. In addition, the instructions for the i-130 say:

"Answer all questions fully and accurately. If a question does not apply to you... type or print “N/A,” unless otherwise directed..."

And at the top of "Part 2 (Continued)" page 4 it says: If you are a lawful permanent resident, complete Item Numbers 40.a. - 41. It does not tell you to leave "blank". That is to say, it does not tell you actually anywhere to leave something blank on the form rather the instructions tell you clearly do not leave anything blank. Some questions however do tell you what specifically to write if the question does not apply instead 'N/A' or 'NONE'. Take for example, the Employment History part (just below question 41 also on page 4 of the I-130), it says write "Unemployed" in question 42 "if you are currently unemployed". That would be a direction which matches the instructions the US Government is providing. So if we were to follow the advise of the previous poster saying take the instructions literally, then I would say it is safer to assume: you should at no point leave a question blank regardless, e.g. "answer all questions fully and accurately." Notice the full stop there on those instructions, it is not dependent on the next sentence, all questions must be answered. This speaks to pushbrk point as well.

I only write this because if you consider all the difficult cases that may be reading threads like this, it is best to go with best practices so as to not confuse others into taking a path that might be more risky or at least could delay them. I would also suggest that while I think the advice given here is an amazing public service many of you are doing, we should note that just because doing something in certain way worked for your case does not mean it will for others. In other words, even your case is a 'slam dunk' you have to consider the following: Not filling something out could (but might not) cause delays as they  "interpret" your meaning and even then much comes down to who is reviewing the forms. A person might look at a 1000 I-130's a day, and just put to the side anything that is not textbook/standard. I know that these things are basically open to interpretation and is why so many questions are asked on this sort of topic but this is basically the view I have come to believe and thought I would share it. Feel free to argue my view (I am not lawyer or giving advise beyond my own interpretations), just wanted to see if I could add what limited input I have on a topic as I found this thread perhaps not so accurately answered.

Said short: if you read around you can see most people put N/A or NONE rather then leaving anything blank, so that tells me anyone wise would go with the group because it is statistically more likely your forms are aligned with what they are use to seeing. That alone sold me.
