Anybody here who has traveled and used the I-797 letter along with an expired green card? Did you guys run into any issues? I'm offered to go on a business trip to Taiwan from US and I'm a bit worried to run into trouble with paperwork.

Thanks in advance!

Traveled at least 3-4 times with I 797. Never ran into any issue whatsoever. It was quick and almost same as with Green Card. You can travel without any worries

I have been a silent spectator here. I am a Vermont filer. Filed on August 08, NOA on August 13. Got approved today. Status showing that Case Was Approved on August 01. First letters of my application EAC182205****.  No RFE, NO Transfer, No Interview.

My heartfelt thanks to all guys who have been posting here. It was very helpful. Appreciate your help to the community. It means a lot. Best wishes to all those who are waiting.

BTW, new website is still showing as case received. Hopefully they will update in next 2-3 days. I assume its normal? Anyone else has been in similar circumstance?

The My USCIS site does still show case received for me (It was approved 07/30). The Case Status Online seems to show the updated information, it's how I know it was approved and it just updated today to "Card was picked up by the USPS."

traveled couple times. no issues at all.

I-797 is not just a extension letter. it's an official document. all immigration employees are familiar with it. the only issue you might have, in some airports, like LAX, you can't get the line for permanent residents for passport check/stamp since the machines can not read the letter and they just assume you have expired green card. you have to stand in Visa holder lines which is a pain. looong waiting sometimes. other than waiting, no other issues :)
