Hi,

I applied for vawa in Feb 2017 I got rfe in June 2018. They received my rfe in August 2018. According to USCIS timeline it's out of processing time. I sent a e request they said they replied to my request 2 weeks ago have not received anything nor did my lawyer. Can someone help me. I don't know should I contact senator or should I wait. How long does it take for them to reply.

Hi everyone, finally I got my interview letter.  My vawa was approved last year and then I filed 485.  I just want to know what to expect on the interview.  I have prepared a folder with things I already sent, my birth certificate and translated, court disposition when I was a juvenile (certified).  proofs of marriage in good faith include w2 together, lease, a bank statement and a bill from tv phone and internet. Some of her letters and photos, birth certificate.  I already submitted my medical but I will bring the copies the doctor gave me if necessary.

Do I need to bring a w2 that I received earlier this year? I filed that by myself, since we were divorced already.   Thanks in advance.

Also the 2 tools to track the case are not updated in my case, lucky me I checked my mail and found the letter.

You received communication in June 2018. That means they reviewed your file within processing times. They should adjudicate your case within 60 days of receiving your additional evidence.

They ask if you are working but you don't have to show W2. Don't forget to bring your valid passport and EAD, some officers ask the EAD back. Probably they will not approve you on the spot because you have a Court Disposition because they will need some time to review your case.

Contact your congressperson. USCIS usually answers the representative in 72hours,but I saw some cases they took 10 days.

@sandra please I would like to know if  I must have an unexpired passport at the time of interview? I am asking because mine recently expired, someone also told me they went for marriage based interview with an expired passport, but valid state I'd card for identification purpose.

Thank you!

Thanks @Sandranj. My district congressperson is getting retired this year. So his office is not accepting any requests. Can I go ahead with senator's office.

@Ilo Try to apply for a new passport, but if it doesn't arrive by the time of your interview it's ok to just go with the one used for entry (they usually ask for that one) and other forms of valid identification, EAD, ID, Driver's License.

@sandranj said you don't have to show W2. For some reason the officer asked me for a paystub or anything and I had my W2 & tax return on hand so the officer put them on file (to show I am not a public charge)!!

In all cases congratulations and best of luck to you.

You need a valid form of identification, so if you have a valid driver’s license or state ID, this works too. Still bring your passport for travel history/entry stamps.
