Police records

Dear all, 

I was told I need police records from any country I have lived in for more than 6 months since age 16. I have been in the U.S. for 9 months a couple of years ago, does it mean I need to get a police record from from there? If yes, how can I get it? Thank you!

The U.S. Do their own background checks, they won't do background checks from other countries so that's why you have to do your own.

as noted above. The US will do it's own background check. My husband spent almost 2 years in the US on 2 J-1 visas. We didn't get any record from the US. Just get them from other countries outside the US.

Same as previous posters said - you don't need a record from the US since you are dealing with them anyway. My husband lived here a few years ago under a work visa and did not obtain/provide a police record with no problem.
