I would not travel with  a passport that will expired in less then 6 months, I have seen people getting annoyed from the airline company to the immigration in and out.

Are you planing to get a new passport there ?

do you have an appointment to get your passport renewed already? If not you might wish to schedule also depending on when you apply you may need to file an expedite.

Alternately, my wife renewed her passport here in the states an a consular outreach, rather than going to the Chicago Consulate we were able to go just an hour to a session they set up in Ohio, although we did have to sign up, it was a huge time save and only cost $60 she received her passport in just over 2 weeks

Hi,

I can safely tell you that you are good to fly with your passport until it is expired.....unless you are planning on staying outside of the US past November 2018, then that's a whole other story. Make sure to get it renewed in your country as you stated so that you have no issues there. Your return to the US would require your LPR card.

This is more for non-immigrant visas. For example, if the US grants you a 6 month stay as a visitor, but your passport expires in 4 months, that is a problem. But she is a legal  permanent resident of the US and a passport holder for the Philippines, so neither country will care when her passport expires, as long as she is not flying on an expired passport.
