TRANSCRIPTS are always better than returns. They provide the full record, and are proof the returns were actually filed with the IRS.

Do not send both. Send the transcripts.

I’m in the same position. Because I am the petitioner (for my mother) I have to file I-864, together with I-864A form filled by my husband. Here’s a quote from uscis website:

You, the sponsor, should complete Form I-864 when your relative has been scheduled for an immigrant visa interview with a consular officer overseas or when your relative is about to submit an application for adjustment to permanent resident status with the USCIS or with an Immigration Court in the United States. If you have a joint sponsor, they must also complete Form I-864. If you are using the income of other household members to qualify, then each household member who is accepting legal responsibility for supporting your relative must complete a separate Form I-864A, Contract Between Sponsor and Household Member

I hope this helps. Wishing you the best.

You file the I-864.  You are the sponsor.  They are your parents. Your husband files the I-864a.  The two of you are filing as a joint sponsor household. You will have a year or so to figure it out.

As Paul&Mary have explained above, you will need to submit two forms, not one:

1) I-864 filled by you

2) I-864A filled by your husband

Whether you have an income or not, you are the sponsor. Think of I-864A as a contract between you & your husband.

Congratulations!

My case was also in Nebraska Service Center, with March 28th priority date.

On Jan 14th, they finally sent it to NVC and NVC received it on Jan 22th, according to the agents I’ve talked to. I have called twice since then, but no case number or invoice ID yet for my mom’s case.

All I could learn was, my mom’s case will be an “electronic case” Reading old forum posts, I thought CEAS was available only at a few select consular posts. Has it spread to more places now? Does anyone have a current list of consular posts that do CEAS?
