Had our interview today and after we got home (over 2 hrs away) we saw that the guy never asked about our medical exam. Tried calling the 800 number and finally got to someone who said that we have to wait for a notice or set up an appointment. Since we got it signed in September 2018 he told us we would have to get a new one done since they made a new policy (changed November 2018) where it has to be submitted within 60 days of it getting signed. Just an fyi for anyone still waiting for an interview.

The guys said he would send us a letter if something was missing and then told us about the conditional green card.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Hi, guys.

We have been waiting for our interview for adjustment of status to be scheduled for more than 9 months now. We received a notice that our application was ready to schedule an interview back on June 20, 2018, after filing in March 2018 (more than a year ago).

However, my employment authorization and travel document expire in June, and I don't think we will be scheduled any time soon. We talked to our lawyer and he told us that the renewal of the EAD and AP also have a fee of 600 USD (from the part of USCIS), without even mentioning that we need to pay his fees for this application. Is this true? Isn't a little bit too much, considering that it's not our fault that USCIS takes so long to do anything? Is there anything we can do?

Thanks for your help.

Your lawyer is lying to you and just wants that 600 fee himself. The EAD/AP renewal is free if you still have the pending AOS and you paid for the first EAD.

So I finally received my Interview notification for June 25, 2019 😀.

I have a question: I did my I-693 on May 25, 2018 after submitting my initial application (I-485 etc) without it on March 2, 2018. Would I need to do another one and take it (sealed envelope) with me to the interview?

Did you end up getting a new I-693? I am in a similar situation. I filed AOS in March 2018 and the surgeon signed the I-693 on June 2018. My interview was scheduled for September 2019.

From my understanding of the new I-693 rule, as long as the surgeon signs the form after filing or no more than 60 days before filing, then the I-693 would be valid for 2 years. Correct me if I’m wrong please.

My lawyer told us to get a new medical which I did. I got my medical done August 2018 (filed package in March 2018, obviously :P ). My understanding was if the medical was submitted within 60 days of it being signed it was valid for 2 years and if it wasn’t filed in 60 days it was valid for a year.

And as as a side note I finally had my interview on August 6 in San Francisco and was approved on August 7. My interview was more of a conversation. The officer was very very nice. Questions she asked while we were talking were how my husband and I met, how our relationship turned from working relationship to romantic, who was at the wedding, if we had a party with everyone after ( we didn’t because I was pregnant then and I’m actually pregnant again now). I think that’s it. She was a very lovely officer.

No I did not get a new i-693. Your understanding is correct.

You did not need a new i-693. My situation was almost identical to yours. (filed March 08, I-693 May 08, interview June 09) and I got approved without any issues.

AOS-based EADs are free (as long as the I-485 fee was paid) per the I-765 instructions: https://www.uscis.gov/system/files_force/files/form/i-765instr.pdf Page 23

Same with AOS-based AP: https://www.uscis.gov/system/files_force/files/form/i-131instr.pdf Page 13
