Man arrested for allegedly stuffing girlfriend in dryer

A man who allegedly stuffed his ex-girlfriend into a clothes dryer, where she was found unconscious by Harris County sheriff's deputies, has been arrested.

Adrian L. Williams, 27, faces up to life in prison if convicted on aggravated kidnapping charge filed in the case. Williams appeared in court Monday and was released after posting a $75,000 bond, according to court records.

Deputies entered the woman's townhome in the 2300 block of Place Rebecca after a friend of the alleged victim called them to the residence. The friend said she'd been unable to contact the occupant.

The concerned friend said she had been receiving cellular phone text messages from Williams telling her that he'd left the woman in the garage of the townhome, the sheriff's department reported.

Deputies found the woman unconscious in her dryer. She came to after being released and identified Williams as the person who imprisoned her in the dryer, the department said.

"Apparently, they broke up last November and, according to the (victim's) friend, he really didn't take it well,'' sheriff's department spokesman John Martin said today. "We don't know exactly what the altercation was when he put her in the dryer.''

The woman, whose name is withheld under protective domestic violence laws, was mentally traumatized by the incident but suffered no serious physical injuries, Martin said.

The woman may have been in the dryer for two or more hours before the friend summoned authorities around 1 p.m. Thursday, Martin said. She suffered bumps and bruises but investigators do not believe she was in the dryer while it was running, he said.

Williams was arrested early Sunday and appeared in court Monday, where the bond was set.
