i was supposed to have my adjustment status interview on 02/26/2018, i received a phone call from a local phone number on 02/23/2018 telling me that unfortunately my appointment got cancelled due to unseen circumstances, therefore you don't have to show up at the address listed on my interview notice.  i was very devastated after exactly waiting one year for this interview, my husband and i still went to the USCIS location to be safe , all prepared in case,  to be told that our interview was canceled since they don't have the complete file in the location.  my husband was really upset and spoke his mind in a professional manners, asking the supervisor how long will take to get a  Reschedule notice and if we can get a written document showing that we still went to our original date. she did sign the notice , however her answer was it could take months to receive a Reschedule notice.  My husband told her that his time or our time is as much valuable as anyone in that office, and he told her that he has to take off from work and that is not professional at all. so now we went home and God only knows when we will receive the second interview appointment.

Is there anyone who experienced this issue , how long did it take to get a second interview notice??

Kindly,

Kindly,

From what I've been told by an IO at my local office, they generally try to reschedule within 60 days of the original interview date. That being said it's just a general timeline and it can also take much longer. It took them a little over 3 months for me to reschedule but that was also because of other events happening during that time... it would also help if you had a local field office specified in your timeline... helps to estimate how busy your office might be.

I hope it won't take that long, since my work permit will expire on October 2018.

That's plenty of time... if you really have to wait that long, just apply for an extension of your EAD two months before expiry date. It doesn't cost anything and is a rather easy fix.

Also, you said you've been waiting a year for the AOS interview but only got your EAD in Oct 2017?? You had to wait 7 months for your EAD after filing?

Yes.... That's why I am worry if my rescheduling will take forever 😊

If you have time make an infopass appointment and talk to someone at your office. My case is a longer story but I was scared that they messed my case up (bc after rescheduling it, they denied it by accident) so I went for an infopass appointment just to see whether everything has been sorted out and to ask when I can expect my new AOS interview date. I went with my hubby and the IO looked at our papers and then said a bunch of stuff about how it's an easy case since I came on a k1 blabla and all of a sudden asked "Would you guys be interested to do the interview today?". We ended up not taking him up on the offer to just quickly do that interview that day bc we both had to get to work and haven't had any papers for the interview collected yet. I don't know whether this was an extreme exception but maybe you will get as lucky as me and just randomly get it offered earlier if you go for an infopass appointment. So far I always thought the IOs at the local office has been huuuuge help in the process.

Well my appointment was supposed to be today, should I wait till the end of March and request an Info pass If I don't hear anything ?

Kindly,

Yes, I'd wait a month because if they send out a letter during that time, you'd still be within the 60 days frame (since they schedule an appointment usually 4 weeks in advance). If you haven't received anything by then, make an infopass appointment for sure!

What USCIS office were you going to interview at?  If Houston, expect atleast 3 months for a rescheduled interview date. That happened to us.
