This is great news, thank you for sharing!!   We received a letter from the NVC that our packet is being sent to the consulate, still waiting to hear from them. My fiance' is currently in the US with me and will need to fly back for the medical and interview. Is it possible to schedule the Dr exams close to the interview so as to minimize the time in SA?

The medical you can only schedule after appointment date with Embassy. The

Dr. Hoosen you contact and they give you the days for medical. Its usually a week before your appointment at the Embassy. Example mine was 14th & 17th Sept and interview 27th Sept.

@Vintage girl CONGRATULATIONS!!! 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻

We we have made progress but I’ve been so busy I haven’t logged on.

We got our email from the consular office about 2 weeks after the NVC forwarded our case on. Completed the DS-160 and are scheduled for interview the 8th of November.

At at the moment, every Thursday in Oct and Nov except holidays has openings. 😊. We still need to get medical scheduled, which is harder since apparently the doctor’s office doesn’t reply to email and neither of us live in South Africa. My fiancé will call on Monday though to schedule.

How is everyone else doing? I’m thinking of you all even as I’m silent over here in California.

Hi all. We just received NOA2 on Sep 22nd (NOA1 receipt date Mar 23rd). My fiancé works in the bush and is only in Jo’burg every 6 weeks. Thus, we are hoping to do medical appt the week of Nov 6th and get Nov 15th interview date.

He already has his original (unabridged) birth certificate and applied for police clearance earlier this month, received a message that his clearance certificate has been finalised on Sep 27th, so just waiting for a message that tells him its ready to collect. Also need to send I-134 form before the interview using DHL if it still requires wet signature, but I’ve seen conflicting information on these forums. Can you clarify please, @Greenbaum?

Now just waiting on NVC to issue case number now. @kemm360 when do you advise filling out the DS160? I know it’s saved on the website for 30 days so if he fills out now, once it shows as sent to US embassy in Jo’burg, we can book interview- is that correct?! Thanks in advance!!

Ps, @Vintage girl I haven’t seen my fiancé since last October 2017 so almost 1 year. We also have a 4 month old little boy he’s never met, so I completely understand your emotions- frustration, anxious, hopeful with anticipation, excited. Many congrats on your recent approval! 🎉

Congratulations on your Noa2, you’re getting close. You can keep filing the DS160 so when the embassy gives you a go ahead letter you just do a little completion and submit and pick an interview date, start now because that form is filled with lot of questions and things, some people don’t recommend booking interview without getting the letter (packet 3) from embassy but people have done this to get a decent and close interview time...

For instance, Embassy sent me the letter in May ending i think and I could not find an available interview date until July 26. Sucks right? I remember Vintage Girl going through worse to get a date too.

Let’s hope that madness is light now.

There is a lot of conflicting information on the wet signature I-134 issue. Until such time as anyone can post a link to an official document stated one way or another I am going to always advocate to a wet signature. So yes, sign the I-134 and send as an original document.

Thanks! Received it via USPS, did not receive an email or text even though I signed up for them and received electronic notifications for NOA1. In the April 2018 NOA2 discussion board it looks like some couples have received theirs for April 2nd so yours should be here soon!! Keep checking the old/new website, since mine says approved there as well 😊
