My lawyer sent the package on 3/2, they received it on the 6th. I am filing by my own 

(divorce) and my green card was expired yesterday 3/9. I don’t know what comes after this but I have to be positive, no negative thoughts ... I couldn’t file before because I needed the final divorce certificate which I got on 2/27. I am not sure if they will reject it ‘cause my green card is already expired even though my lawyer said  they got it before the green card expiration date. Still waiting

Quick question: Is this NOA letter for approved 1 year extension is good enough to show to DMV to extend my drivers license?

My NOA (and 1 year extension) arrived in the mail today! Whew! Now I can breathe, and we'll see when the biometrics appointment comes. Notice date is March 6th (we are March 10th).

Does anyone know the rough timelines between getting NOA and getting biometrics, as well as the average length of time between getting biometrics and the actual appointment?  My wife and I are taking a few weeks off work next month (already scheduled) and we want to go on a trip to Hawaii early next month (around April 3-15).  However we can't book anything if the biometrics will be at the same time, and we won't know when that is for who knows how long.  We would also prefer to not reschedule biometrics if at all possible since it'll just delay things further

 

So my thought was to wait until we get the letter and plan around it.  If it comes late or doesn't come at all until after our vacation time is over, then we lose our window for the trip.  So our other thought was to book a last minute trip like 1-2 days before we'd leave (if we don't get biometrics by that time).  It has the benefit that we might get a really cheap rate (or possibly screw our trip over too), but also odds are if the letter came while we were gone we wouldn't miss the appointment.  If worse comes to worst we do have an alternate trip planned that won't have us gone for so long or for so far away, and we can take the Hawaii trip in August instead.

 

The January 2018 thread has almost everyone at VSC got their appts on average a month or more after getting the NOAs.  NOBODY getting biometrics appointments yet from CSC (we are at CSC).

 

The December 2017 thread the VSC people are on average about a month as well between NOAs to biometrics.  The CSC people only about half got the biometrics appointments and the times vary from 2 weeks to 2 months after getting NOAs.  

 

The November 2017 thread the VSC people averaged a month or more in most cases while the CSC people averaged three weeks between NOA and biometrics.

 

So I guess in the process I sort of answered my own question, but the data could help someone else so here it is.  I guess I'll just wait to see when Jan 2018 and Feb 2018 CSC filers start getting their biometrics appointments so I can keep track of it and plan accordingly.

We are actually going to Hawaii in April, coincidentally. Trip's already booked; we'll be gone 26 April - 4 May. Based on what I was seeing in earlier months, it seemed like people were getting their biometric letters about a month to a month and a half after the NOA. My wife's NOA was dated 2/9 so I'm hoping that biometric letter comes soon. It would be nice if the appointment didn't fall during our trip, but if we have to reschedule, so be it. Considering CSC's processing timeline at the minute, what's another month or two, honestly.

That's the trends I was noticing as well.  Also since nobody in the January 2018 thread who went through CSC even got their biometrics appointments yet, I think it'll be a good bet that we can go in April as well.

Realistically, how long does it take to get the biometric letter appointment from the time you get ur NOA .? I filed at the VSC 

i got my ticket to go to France May the 7th . I hope I will get the appointment before that : what do u think?

Good News. NOA received today 03/12 (14 days from delivery of my ROC package).  Date issued  on NOA was 03/05.

Received NOA1 today, March 12th. Letter was dated March 6th. Yay! Next step will be for me to renew my drivers licence in May, that'll be an ordeal I'm sure.

Finally got NOA dated 03/06. I was a bit worried since I didnt get any email or text that they had accepted our package like in AOS and I129F process. Good thing it's there now and we now have to wait and see how long this plays out.

Quick little update for those who are interested.

Took my drivers license and I-797 into the DMV. There was some confusion about how to proceed (they could not find the correct code and were not willing or able to look it up). The whole thing was scanned in and sent to DMV HQ in Richmond to verify. I called them back 2 days later and it was processed. Just got back from DMV with a new license. Not sure if this is a Virginia thing or a national thing, but if you have a pending permanent resident petition or ROC petition they now issue a license for the full 10 years. (So I'm good till 2026 as they see the initial issuance in 2016 as the first year).

Weirdly my driver's license doesn't expire until 2020, which I find very odd but I'll take it! One less thing to worry about right now.

Thank you for reminding me. I had forgotten that my driver's license expires the same day my Green Card does... And I live in Virginia too so thank you for the information. I remember that they had to do the whole Richmond thing so I'll make sure to go as soon as possible so my license doesn't expire before they have figured out what they need to do... Thanks!
