Medicaid for Dogs?

There is a program called petaid that will help lower income families do major orthopedic surgeries on pets.  There are also low income vet clinics too.

He must be beautiful. Apartment and city living would not work for a big dog... Cats don't seem to mind.

I live in the mountains he was sun bathing on a snow drift this morning, got too hot so he moved over to the shade of the truck.

Oh what we do for our dogs.

My furball was a rescue at 7 months. He has better health insurance then most Americans (sad truth). The Vets knows him (and we live in a city) 3 surgeries, monthly allergy injections and his weekly medicated baths and he might be the most needy dog in the US.

But having the government sponsor his food... well lets just say I don't think they would be able to afford his special hypoallergenic, simple ingredient recipe, non grain, diet kibble. Now if the offered medicare/medicaid programs for his allergy meds......

Ahh .....America, the land where your employer offers pet insurance as part of their benefits package and your dog sleeps on his hypoallergenic orthopedic bed at night knowing life is good.

I have a large wood stove I tie him to, then thick gloves and my Carhartt. Lead around the front and back.

Last time we went to the vest took 3 of us and half way though he did a mega dump.

Can't say he's ever dumped before mid-clip. He's more a make a big smell of the fish variety and act like it's not him type dog. 12lbs of poodle terror. It's weird, I can do anything to him without protest... baths, teeth brush, hair trim.. but even get that clipper near him and he's ready to gnaw my face off. Like a demon from hell.

In our first training class for our rescue (We got him at 3-4 years), the trainer at the end was talking about getting your dog "used to being touch". She went on about how "it is going to take some time before they let you touch sensitive places, like their ears, their teeth, their toes. So go slowly and work your way there".

This was about 1 month after getting him. In the class I started picking up each paw one at a time and he just looked at me with the same smile he always does. I can literally do anything to him. I'll lift his lips up and flap them up and down and he's still happy. I can do "this little piggy went to market" and he just lies there.

I love Golden Retrievers :)

I have an English Bulldog and he is the same exact way but I am sure much lazier. I can't get over how excited he gets to go to the Vet,  can't wait to go in and I have to drag him out. I will never forget the size of the needle they used to Microchip him. I almost fainted, my dog was just happy and excited to see the vet didnt even notice the needle. When he gets his nails clipped, he just looks bored.

The only issue we ever had at the vet was when they tried to take his temperature (rectal). It's not that he cared, he just reflexively sat every time they touched the back of his bum. He was still smiling and happy, just kept sitting. Ending up having to get him lying down on his side rubbing his belly and then he was good :)
