Cutting taxes does not = less tax revenue in many cases.  MDL bait and switch

I am confused by this, can you elaborate?  If our nation runs on taxes as income, and we already spend more than we make, how will reducing taxes NOT affect the deficit?

And sadly, they won't cut the spending in the places that would be acceptable.  They always go straight to "education, military, etc" instead of "congressional salaries, congressional health care plan, pork projects that only benefit a minuscule percentage of their "constituency" (aka: projects that make money for their financial benefactors).  I'm certain that there are plenty of cuts that could be made that wouldn't hurt the nation overall, just those in congress.  Clinton's budget was the only balanced budget and one of the very few things I can say he did well....Ms. Lewinsky may have something else to add to his "things done well" but we'll never know.... ;)

The deficit may go up. Trump is still dealing with Obama's deficit.

The tax cuts did not drop tax revenues

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/09/25/consumer-confidence-september.html

Consumer confidence hits 138.4 in September, vs. 132 estimate

  • September's index print is near the all-time high of 144.7 reached in 2000, the Conference Board said Tuesday.
  • "These historically high confidence levels should continue to support healthy consumer spending, and should be welcome news for retailers as they begin gearing up for the holiday season," says Lynn Franco, director of economic indicators at the Conference Board.

Fed's Powell sees 'remarkably positive outlook' for economy that may be 'too good to be true'

  • Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell cited a "remarkably positive outlook" for a U.S. economy enjoying both low unemployment and inflation.
  • A reporter asked Powell after last week's Fed meeting whether the outlook was "too good to be true," and he said it was "a reasonable question."
