My wife and myself are deaf. The saddest news is that USA embassy in Manila does provide an interpreter BUT ARE THE WORSE INTERPRETER. They hired their own lousy interpreter for the deaf. We are not allow bring our own professional interpreter. What Deaf right do we have against their lousy interpreter at the embassy? Often time those interpreter are speller and hardly know how to sign. We gave up and rather to write down which is our 2nd language. We already told the embassy that this interpreter are the worse. Embassy will not buy it and deny our application visa. What rights do we have?

Yes, contact the US Consulate in Philippines to ask if they provide sign language interpreter or you are allowed to bring one to the interview.

From another US consulate:

No one will be allowed to accompany the applicant to the Embassy for the visa interview unless they fit into one of the following categories:

  • Parents or legal guardians of a minor child applying for a visa.
  • Person assisting an applicant with a disability (e.g. sign language interpreter).

I don't think there will be any issue with mom accompanying her daughter in this situation. They have allowed others to accompany that provide assistance.

I have no easy answers.   I know when others are denied their case file is sent back to USCIS.  Don't know what other options are available for you.

Sounds like you are confusing two issues, poor interpreter and refusal.

Why were you refused?

I agree with Boiler. Are you sure there wasn't anything questionable about your application. Something missing. Was something said at the interview. How did you know you were denied.  How were you advised of your denial. Did you have anything given to you in writing to explain the denial.

What was the exact nature of your denial? Just like in your other post I get it that the interpreter sucked but they should have told you why you were denied.

It has nothing to with denial the first place. It is about the professional level that provide the terrible communicate for the deaf communicate access. Once we have clear communicate then they can explain why we were denial. There is no excuse for barrier our communicate access. I was there with my wife. I saw the horrible interpreter at the USA embassy in Manila, Philippine. Once we have clear communicate access then all the process will be much clear how to make better application.

Refusal because of no communicate access. Image we are at the hearing court not provide communicate access and is all right to denial the case without communication access? Is that legally?

No, I am not confusing between lousy interpreter and denial. There is very little question came from interpreter while we watch the person talk many many many thousand words about questioning us. And gave us, verrrrry few question. What are those thousand words that embassy said? That interpreter only learn alike 1 month sign language classes different from professional who learning sign language for over 4 years full time study. Why provide us that type of interpreter lowest level.

Image yourself elf if I am deaf doctor and I hire lousy interpreter that I have to cut off your arm.  But doctor ask many choice but interpreter might gave you no other choice. Is that cool?

Not sure what that means.
