Form I-129F - Some fields cannot be filled in

Has anyone else noticed that many fields on the latest official I-129f cannot be filled in from your PC.  I.e.  you can't put your cursor in the box and type in the information?

There are quite a few all over the form.  I'd prefer to fill out the entire form properly and typed from the PC.

Has anyone generated a "fixed" version in pdf that can be filled in completely?

Try downloading it to you computer first. Then open it with Adobe Acrobat Reader. Hope that solves your problem

Thanks, K&N2609 for your suggestion.  It's nice to see some members who take the time to read, understand and try to offer assistance rather than folks who rack up post count with useless, flippant replies.  I did pull down Acrobat free Reader and it confirmed that those fields are simply locked by the original author of the form, for whatever reason.

Hence, the reason for posting (and yes, for those Captain Obvious parrots out there, I did search prior) was to see if someone similar to myself with IT savvy had taken the time/effort to go back and re-engineer a version of the form where those fields were unlocked as desired.

Not having received any replies to that nature, I'll look into doing it myself once I rustle up a full copy of Acrobat.  If and when I finish it, I'll be sure to share it with folks in the future!

Until then...

I tried doing the i-129 again. And the only time i ran into those problems was when the next field was not applicable (e.g. Have you been previously married, if you answered no then the field asking for previous spouse would not be fillable) i am guessing they did they because you do not need to answer that field since it does not apply to you (only a guess). But if in doubt, just hand write it in. I know its not the prettiest thing to do it that way, but atleast you will be more assured you put N/A or none in those fields. Good luck :D

Pretty good reason why those fields are locked.  The author of the form (USCIS) does NOT require an entry in those fields based on previous responses.  Why would you enter something where no entry is required.  The adjudicators have been trained on how to read the forms.

YMMV

Its funny you say that because you came to the same conclusion that was given to you by "IT savy" people and also discussed previously on the forums.

And you mention wanting to re-engineer the form, so you're looking for something illegal and then possibly offering something illegal which is a violation of the VJ terms of service?
