I'm from West Africa, Liberia and my country doesn't support dual citizenship. Howbeit, I will still apply for that "Eagle"passport (U.S. citizenship) because it has great advantages.

Liberia doesn't support it on PAPER but we do have dual citizens working in Government.

Hi everyone,

Finally my wait for ROC is pretty much over. Got notification this morning that my card sent in for production. I sent my package on Jan 5th, 2018 California field office. Getting ready for my citizenship now and hope everyone out there getting their card soon.

I don't believe it until I see the card in my hand... Otherwise this might just be another stupid glitch.

You're right. I had worked in the government myself and cabinet level officials carry other countries' passports; including the United States. I'm glad to know I have a Liberian on this forum.

I got the same message along with “my name was updated” on Jan 22 and it’s still same. It seems like a positive sign but who knows. Good luck!

Your eligibility will depend on the exact date of your greencard.

Whether or not you "should" apply really is a matter of personal choice.  Given the current climate around immigration, we decided to go ahead with the process to have a sense of stability along with the rights and responsibilities that come with citizenship.

That said, if your "should" refers to possible delays in the I-751 process, my experience has been that it hasn't slowed down the ROC, I was just approved after 12 months which is earlier than expected.  I hear varying reports, most people say if you're going to do it to use the online application.

It makes me very antsy to see all the applications before and after me getting approved. Where is my approval??? sigh.

I have not received the approval yet, I am in the 90 day window before 3rd anniversary of GC and wanted to check if I should apply or not.

Hello Friends,

Thanks to everyone for all the updates!  My I-751 application got approved.  Below is my timeline...

California Service Center

  • Submitted date: January 12, 2018
  • Notice Date: January 13, 2018
  • Received a notice saying that Biometrics is NOT required and the existing Biometrics would be used.
  • Received a 12 months extension followed by a 18 months extension.
  • Status changed to 'Name Was Updated: January 22, 2019
  • Case Approved and the Green Card in Production: January 23, 2019

image.png.4f10d11bae21408ed772959eb100438a.png

So, as you all can see - on January 22, my case got updated with the status 'Name was Updated' and the very next day on January 23, it changed to 'New Card Is Being Produced'.

I think that the 'Name Update' or 'Address Update' or 'Date of Birth Update' status is maybe just an indication that someone has started looking at your application and as long as the application is thoroughly complete and everything in it is accurate, you will receive an approval pretty soon.

Also, I already submitted an online application for Naturalization (N-400) last week on January 16, 2019.  So, that didn't seem to affect my I-751 application.

Hope this helps!  All the very best to everyone who is still waiting for an approval.  Keep your faith in God.  An Approval is coming pretty soon! 🙂

Germans can have both citizenships. That’s why I’m going to start the n-400 sometime this year

You are aware of the fun German process of obtaining a "Beibehaltungsgenehmigung" so you don't loose your German passport? Takes 9-12 months on the German end these days...

That needs to be done first & I personally right now just can't face up to it, lol!
