My journey with USCIS ended today. I had my interview and my oath with name changed ( middle name dropped) this afternoon. The oath ceremony was at about  3:30 and there were more than 20 people. Good luck to everyone and thanks for your help.

Hi! First of all, congratulations on finishing this journey! 🥳

I will have my interview in a couple of weeks at the Newark office. I read that if you change your name you will have to wait for a judicial oath ceremony, because Newark office only does administrative ceremonies the same day. I want to change my name to a shorter version of my legal name, but I definitely would like to have both, the interview and oath ceremony the same day. Is this correct?

Thanks for your help! 🙂

Congrats! Would you mind filling out your timeline so others can see when you filed?

correct - name change (as far as I know) needs to be done via court oath ceremony.

I did both the same day. I dropped my middle name and I have my oath one hour and a half after my interview. It was the last group of the day.

Thanks! 😊

My filing date is January 4th, 2020. I was living in NY when I filed, so my application was transferred to Newark when I moved to NJ last year.

I received my interview appointment letter about a month ago, and it's scheduled to be in less than two weeks.

Thanks! I will try to do the same, my full name is just too long hehe 😁

Received bio reuse letter on 2/12/21.

my estimate also shows May 2021 but not sure if this is reliable from what I've seen here on VJ...

What was your estimate when you filed ? I filed end of august 2020 and initially it said April.  The longest it dropped down to was July before this May status

Those estimates are worthless. Mine said August 2020, then September 2020. Yet here I am, waiting for an interview 😁

I stopped keeping track since it changed so many times...it said April before the biometric reuse notice was posted...now it says May

I had my interview after 2:00 pm and other people had it after me and had the oath  ceremony too. Once the waiting room was full they called us to go to the Liberty Room for the oath ceremony. I think they close the office at 4:00 but we left at 4:10. It was the last ceremony of the day.

Yes yes, all done since February 2020. Since then it says "we are actively reviewing your case"... Lotta bang for my buck I'm getting, that's over 370 days of "active" review :D
