Congratulations on your Citizenship. It feels really that one is now free.

When I get the Naturalization Certificate and Passport, I plan on staying on this site to help others. I realise the law changes though

Hello - I wanted to provide an update on my Oath ceremony experience that I had yesterday, the 8th November 2018. On the oath schedule we were asked to reach there at 8.30 am. This location was almost an hour drive from our home in Queens, NY and we reached right about 8.30 am, went in and seated ourselves in the hall. There were 103 people from 19 or so countries and in the first 1.5 hour we went about submitting our green cards and reviewed/signed our Naturalization Certificates.

At around 10.45 am the judge walked in and gave a brief speech, had us go through the oath and the pledge of allegiance. After that he gave a moving speech about his family history which I believe was very appropriate. At this point he left and the rest of the staff started to hand out the Certificates. Each one of us would get up when our name was called and then take the certificate and walk out.

We were done at 11.45 am and at that point my wife and I went to a Chipotle nearby to celebrate with a Burrito bowl.

We are now happy Citizens and proud of this honor. Thank you to this forum for the help with all my queries and for all the support. Of course some members in the forum are more involved and a few only like to get information but not share or update their information. However, remember knowledge expands by sharing and it also encourages us to do bigger better things.

regards,

psg052813.

Congrats to you NYCruiser and psg052813! We are getting excited for our interview on 11/14. This forum has helped us immensely since 2013.

Just got my interview letter.

Original application date: 6/29/2018.  Long Island Holtsville Field Office. Interview Date: 12/19/2018.

Problem is I will be away that week and can't change my plans! Any advice? Was going to go to the Holtsville office with a letter explaining and ask for a reschedule...

Did my online application in April. I was called for biometric at the beginning of May at the LIC office  and then nothing. My GC expires April 2019. wondering if there is anything I should do in the meantime..I don't seed any updated for the  Queens office...

In a couple of months, you can get an InfoPass appt and get an I-551 stamp (one-year extension of your green card) on your passport. The only drawback of it is when you're entering the country, the CBP officer can't verify the stamp on the spot so they have to take you to the secondary screening room.

Has anyone had any luck scheduling an InfoPass lately? I have been check for the last 3 weeks and found nothing. I even check every day at 6 am because that was the time you'd find available appointments on there. I only found one spot last week at 6:45 am that was scheduled for 7:30 am the same day (Go figure!) but I couldn't make it.

Hi guys! It's awfully quiet here!

I had my interview today (Manhattan) and it went smooth and quick.

About 15min wait time. I was in and out within 45-50 minutes.

Really straight forward, pretty much just did the tests, went over application, and done. Recommended for approval.

All the documents that were needed were passport, state ID, and GC.

I heard that many of you received an email or a text notification shortly after your interview but I received none (my latest case status is "interview scheduled" which is a little odd..?

Anyway, good luck to you all!!

I also had my interview today in Manhattan (although it was in the Brooklyn service center section of Federal Plaza).

I had to wait over two hours after my scheduled time. But the interview went really well, the officer was super friendly and we joked the whole time.
My case is more complicated: a lot of traveling over the years (including one long trip that was just over 6 months, a red flag) and a tiny
"criminal" record (disorderly conduct for which they wanted the original court record - luckily I had it with me), they also asked that I provide some additional proof that my wife and I still live together, which I found odd (I showed some photos on my phone, and gave some rent stubs and other docs that have both our names).

At the end the officer said everything seemed fine, although he couldn't approve himself given all the flags and would need to get it signed by a supervisor, which would take a bit longer than usual (he said 1-3 months). Overall, glad that things are headed in the right direction and I don't have to worry anymore. After 14 months of waiting, what a relief!!

I didn't get any notification after I left, and my case status is still "interview scheduled", but I'm sure they will update later.

@Matmat thanks for sharing your experience! Sorry to hear you had to wait for two hours, that seems quite long. Fingers crossed for everything to be processed quickly! I'm pretty sure my officer told me 1-3 months wait time as well (on my "recommended for approval", no-flag case) unless I misunderstood? I thought it's just something that they say  to prevent people from inquiring early after interview.

Congrats to you - we had a snag which was really annoying. The officer was quite brusque and rude and asked for the 2017 tax transcript or a lease. My husband feels we were discriminated against for being gay. We only brought the documents we uploaded in January (2014-2016 taxes) so hadn't then filed 2017 taxes. We didn't think we needed to bring further evidence that we are still married and living together since it wasn't listed. So we got a Notice of Continuance and had to scramble to bring back documents and upload them. We today gave them our tax transcript, 2017 returns and apartment rent bills with both our names, and now we have no idea how long it's going to take. Has anyone else had such an unpleasant experience?

@Davesings That is just so wrong.. 😞 I hope you will be able to sort things out quickly.

I got an update overnight - application approved, so I'm waiting for my letter. However (!) my estimated completion case moved to March 2019 ??? So the officer was right about 3-4 months wait from now. Wow.

Congratulations. Please do update us when you get your Oath scheduled. I'm right behind you, with my interview in 2 weeks.
