Urgent: I-9 Employment help!

Good news is I found a job starting in September!

While I was in the conditional permanent residency removal process and my green card expires in August,

I will need some help to tell me what document I should select from the I-9 form document upload pictures attach.

You may also consider booking an info pass and getting a stamp in yoru passport. That will extend your residency for a year while the ROC is pending and serves as proof of employment authorization

I think it depends on the field office or IO. I've never gone so I don't know but heard stories or people who did get to keep their GC and people who got theirs taken away. Make sure to make a few copies of it before your appointment in case they do keep it

You mentioned it expires in August. If it has not expired yet, just the GC, otherwise GC+NOA letter.

If your SSN card has no notation on it (like "Not Valid for Employment" or "Valid for Work With DHS Authorization") and you already removed the restrictions when you got your 2 year GC a couple years ago then you wouldn't have to update it. But if you never updated it and it does have one of those notations then yes, you would need to update it in order to be able to use it in conjunction with your state DL for your I-9 proof. You mention that your GC expires this month; SS might not update your card unless you have at least 14 days remaining on your proof of legal status, which in this case is your GC. In theory, it should be no problem for them to just look at your GC and the extension letter together and use logic to determine that your legal status is good for another year. But I've read and heard many stories of people trying to get an unrestricted card using the extension letter and expired GC and being denied. You might not have an issue if you deal with someone who understands the extension letter is a legal immigration document, but just a heads up that you may face a problem trying to update your SSN with it after your GC expires. It seems to vary from office to office (and employee to employee). So I would try and go ASAP.

HE/She is a permanent resident. It will not extend their residency. It extends the validity of the document (GC) that shows that they are a resident. They will remain a resident unless a decision is taken to revoke the residency.

I just completed an I-9 with a new employer few days ago. All I submitted was my unrestricted social security card and school photo ID card, verification cleared!

Yes, but the work starts in September , so they will need I-9 form in September, when it expired
