Passport says "CR1" and GC came "IR1"

Guys, 

 

We are married for more than 2 years (which means my GC should be IR1). When my visa was issued, they wrote CR1 in it (that is what we filed initially) and at POE the officer wrote CR1 on Stamp but 2 days back we got my Greencard and it says "IR1".  Is this normal?

 

P.S : We are married for more than 3 years.

CR1 is the Conditional Green Card. I-765 must be filed to remove the conditional status. I guess you already have done that. IR1 is the Immediate Relative status and a 10 year Green Card.

Ir1 is correct if you entered after your 2nd wedding anniversary.

And yes, if you are married for more than two years when you enter the US, you get the IR1. CBP wrote wrong in your passport but USCIS caught it when they issued the visa. 😊

Thanks. I am in US already and after a brief adjustment period I am looking for a job and learning Driving (US).

The section in bold and red is not quite correct, I'm sure you meant to say Green Card.

We both (Bunny and I) are soaking the peace and content of being home together. This was a long and tough battle. e

Just a point of clarification.  In the beginning the US Citizen filed a petition for a spouse.  The Consulate determines which visa to issue.  Once it's used to enter the US,  USCIS, not the CBP at the Port of Entry, determines the immigrant's status.  In this case, USCIS did it right.  Sometimes they don't and their mistake needs to be corrected.

 

It can definitely be correct to issue a CR1 visa and then be granted IR1 status after entry.  That would be in the case where the marriage was less than two years at visa issue and more then two years upon US entry.  If the OP was married two years before the visa was issued, then the Consular IV unit made a mistake, but USCIS effectively corrected it.
