And this is the most fiscally irresponsible province already.. that likewise gets equalization payments for being so horrifically undesirable for businesses to invest in.

More than 3,300 asylum seekers have entered Quebec from the US, driving authorities to create temporary welcome centre at 56,000-seat stadium

A recent surge in asylum seekers arriving from the United States has prompted Canadian authorities to open a temporary welcome centre in one of Montreal’s best-known landmarks.

Since the start of the year, the numbers of asylum seekers entering Canada from the US has soared. More than 4,000 of them – many of them driven by fears of Donald Trump’s crackdown on immigrants – have entered Canada at remote, unguarded locations along the border.

By doing so, they aim to skirt a 2004 agreement between Canada and the US that forces most migrants to apply for asylum in the first country in which they arrive.

In recent months, the province of Quebec has become a major entry point. More than than 3,300 asylum seekers have crossed into the province from the US, sending authorities scrambling to set up additional welcome centres.

On Wednesday, the province began bussing asylum seekers – who including children and pregnant women – to the site of its latest welcome centre: Montreal’s Olympic stadium, a 56,000-seat arena normally used for sporting events, rock concerts and trade shows.

3,000 less votes for the democrats.

Canada should offer free phones and jobs to all who want to come. Then when the stadiums are full....it will be easy to deport them to their home countries.

The main benefit of Canada and immigration is their stance on welfare and immigrants. Immigration is very profitable for the Canadian government. Mainly because the sponsor(s) gets dinged big time if the applicant needs government assistance and must pay back every cent. The CRA will make sure of that. So its effective at likewise draining savings accounts given how few new immigrants find jobs right away.

I have heard that the new policy Trump is proposing is very similar to the way the Canadian immigration system currently is.

I'd support that in a heartbeat if it's paired with decreased immigration quotas. Generally it would be more revenue for the federal government to let in as many as possible.

Are they American citizens seeking asylum or refugees from another country that are seeking asylum in Canada?  The headline title is a little misleading, but it seems they are not American citizens such as the left wing Hollywood types or Ruth B-G, that promised to leave if Trump was elected, but rather refugees that see a more friendly opportunity in Canada.

Likely people who'd be deported under Trump trying to find friendlier policy to those who break laws of another country.

I understand that.  The headline to the thread seems misleading as it insinuates they are seeking asylum from the US.

Of course they now do. Everything is always a bad idea, until the supreme leader thinks of it, at which point it all becomes so clear. LOL.
