Question: I am the wife and the sponsor to my husband receiving AOS, from a K1. I am holding off changing my name because the past paper work was filed under my maiden name including the finical support documents. I am nervous changing my name midway in the AOS might cause an issue.

Does anyone have any experience or  advice?

hi! I have my SSN and my bank account under my maiden name and I was told to just update them when I already have proof that I had a name change. When I filed my AOS, I put in my new last name (husband's) and explained in my cover letter that I had changed my signature too because I took my husband's name. When I received my NOA's, it reflected my new name. I guess it didn't matter that our joint bank account statement that we submitted for I864 was under my maiden name.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Hello,

I did my Biometrics, Just finger prints, and photo. And then she just stamped on my Biometric appointment letter with the date.

I wanted to know, was there anything else to.

People who have done with the Biometric can you please share their experience.

I have seen people with who did biometric in August 1st week their I-485 status showing case ready to be  scheduled for interview

Hey July filers!

I've been scouting this forum for the last couple weeks and noticed something changed for me when I checked my receipt numbers today. Thought I'd start sharing my progress. I am (was?) a TN status holder for work (06/16 valid through 06/19). I got married to a USC in 03/17. Filing to adjust status, also for travel doc because I need to go back to Canada in September.

07/03/17 Mailed 130/485/765/131 to Chicago office via UPS

07/07/17 Package received by Chicago

07/12/17 Notice date for 130/485/765/131 (received hardcopy within a few days)

07/14/17 Biometrics notice date, appointment for I485/I765 on 08/01/17

08/01/17 Biometrics appointment completed (Phoenix)

08/01/17 Called to request expedite on I-131

08/03/17 Request for expedite says "While situation appears serious, you have not provided evidence of extreme emergent need"

08/14/17 Online status changed to "Ready to schedule interview"

08/15/17 Called USCIS to follow up about expedite and add additional information

I see one other person from July has been updated to the interview scheduling phase.

Anyone receiving any traction on I-131s?

My husband had his biometrics completed on August 7th, and this morning we woke up to a notification that as of August 15th our case is ready to be scheduled for an interview for the I-485. We haven't had any activity on EAD or AP, as of yet.

Hi guys!

Happy to say that our congresswoman's office called us to tell us that our expedite had been approved and routed for processing at a different center. Crossing our fingers that all goes well from here on out.

As you may recall, hubs had an amazing job offer in hand. Here's how we got it done.

8/1 Biometrics Appointment

8/7 We had called the National Service Line and submitted a request by phone (they gave us a really hard time, but eventually let us submit one!). They had said they may reject on the spot without asking for evidence and didn't know when we might hear back from them or if at all.

8/8 We submitted our evidence through our congressional office which was a cover letter, job offer letter, letter from the company. We were told that they would get back to us in 2-7 days pending USCIS communication.

8/16 Congressional aide called us back to say that USCIS had reviewed and approved our request, but on the way to a different center for processing. She told us to expect the notice this week and actual card next week.

Hope all goes smoothly! I encourage those that really have an urgent need to contact your district's congressional office. Hopefully they approve the AP too.... we miss Canada!

I forgot to mention that I did not submit my I-693 with all of my submission packet - I had read that you can bring it along to the interview.

Last week I received a yellow form telling me I didn't submit my I-693. It said do not send it now, but to bring it to the interview when/if scheduled, and if an interview is not required that they would request by mail.

It worked out well because it gave me time to collect my vaccination records from Canada, and to set an appointment with the civil surgeon. I'm headed there tomorrow and it will be $275.

Hope this helps!

What I noticed too, does it makes it faster if you expedite your EAD? It seems like all the comments are saying they expidited their EAD and then out of a sudden their case says ready for an interview. Enlighten me here, guys.

Ready to be scheduled for an interview is not the same as Interview Scheduled. Some cases remain on 'fingerprint received' others show ready to be scheduled for an interview first. Both wait a similar amount of time until the interview.

for me it was only a text message via the USCIS website - i had signed up for the text alerts. no official email from USCIS, and the text wasn't the same kind as the receipt notices for our initial I-485 application.

We checked our USCIS case status just now and our status had been changed to "Interview Scheduled" for September 25th, 2017. We were absolutely not expecting this so soon! Has anyone else had this? Is that normal or suspicious?? (For reference, our NOA-1 was 6th July, we have not had any EAD/AP notices or status changes, and our status only changed to "Ready for Interview" on 15th August!)
