I think I will try and do that. I wonder if I need to accept the job, or just show proof of offer because I've been looking into a few other options as well!

Thanks!

I believe you only have to show proof of job offer and the desire/intent to accept, because you can't legally accept the job pre-EAD.

My husband had his biometric appointment today. Every went very fast and smoothly. In and out within 10 minutes. But unfortunately we came home to a RFE. I need to provide more information about my income and he needs to have his birth certificate translated. They gave us 87 days to reply but I'm sending the documents out by Friday.

Last week, we recieved our letter for biometric appointment on August 11, but will try to do a day earlier due to scheduled trip.

Also, I was able to get my Texas driver's license today. Texas DPS accepted NOA-1 for AOS as proof of my immigration satus and issued driver's license for one year. It can be exchanged for 10 year DL after my EAD approved. Very happy!

Hi fellow July AOS-ers!

Hubs has been done with our biometrics for a over a week now!!! YAY for that...

He has a pending job offer conditional on his EAD coming through by Tuesday, September 4 (his start date). We've had amazing luck in finding a job in a few weeks when we had thought it would take months. It's an amazing job offer as an operational manager of company that's going through a transitional stage - thus they won't wait past the September 4 date to hire him. There is also a chance he may need to travel for work. Any tips on convincing the USCIS officer to expedite our EAD so we receive before that date? It would seriously suck to lose this opportunity...

I read up on some experiences on VJ and I'm clueless as to why some people would be able to get expedited service with job offers, and some are denied!! :(

Thanks in advance!!!

Good to hear that you were able to get your DL. I'm in Texas too and my hubby was given his permit with the same expiration date as the I-94. If you don't mind sharing, which city did you get your DL? I might have hubby try his luck to extend his permit using the NOA

Would it look odd if my wife tries to get an expedited EAD if I, her husband, is offering her a job? I am self employed.

Could I just write up something that I want her to work for me? I legitimately could use her help.

Did he apply for DL before he'd gotten the NOA-1? If so, definitely try to exchange it. We are in Houston, but in Texas you can apply for DL, or take written or road tests at any DPS location. I applied in Houston, sat for my written test there, but went to Rosenberg for a road test. It worked fine for me! Rosenberg is one of the best DPS offices, btw. So fast, efficient, and friendly - unlike most other DPS locations. Well worth trying if you are somewhere close by.

Considering that it's free, I would definitely try that, worst case scenario the USCIS just will say no. I believe that you will have to include a cover letter in your request for an expedite, which will be key. If you can rationalize the urgent need to have your wife's help in your business, well... why not?

Thank you! He applied for his driving permit before we received the NOA. He did get it, but he's still learning how to drive so we want to extend (it's expiring soon). I'm not close to Houston, I'm closer to SA...so we will try at a local DPS.
