Hi everyone.
I'm new here but my girlfriend and I are working on the beginning of getting the K-1 visa started. Can someone please try to answer two quick questions for me.
1) What exactly am I filing first? From what I read it appears that it is the Form I-129F. So, does that mean I'm sending in all the proof of relationship information with that? Or am I just sending in that form to get the ball rolling? I have heard both stories, and also don't heard some say that I am supposed to bring it to Atlanta, while the travel.state.gov website would lead me to believe I mail it to the lockbox in Dallas, TX?!

2) In the letter of intent from my GF in Australia, could someone confirm if I'm correct in seeing that one copy gets addressed to the lockbox in Dallas, and one copy to the consulate in Sydney?

Any quick help, just to keep my head from spinning off my shoulders would be much appreciated.
Coty.

  1. For starters. you'll be filing the I-129F with all supporting documents addresses to the TX lockbox before it gets routed to the relevant service center.
  2. The copy for the I-129F submission should be addressed to the TX lockbox. The subsequent copy should be addressed to the Sydney consulate and dated closer to the visa interview during the K-1 stage.

Visajourney has a very nice guide section. http://www.visajourney.com/content/guides/

You don't need an address on the letter of intent, just make sure it's signed. If you really, really want to put down an address the lockbox address is fine.

You won't need a letter of intent for the interview as you already sent one in the i-129f package, but if you really, really want her to bring one to the interview anyway you don't need to put an address on it. But if you really, really want to put an address on it the embassy's address is fine.
