The agent I spoke to wouldn't raise an SR despite being at 91 days, since that's "still within normal processing time". I guess I'll just do it online.

Hmm, why are some agents like that. You should’ve tried to escalate the call. He/she should be happy you’re not a hothead like I am. 😂😂😂

Hello VJs,

I was following another June AOS 2017 thread, however, this one is more active.

I petitioned my parents in June and just started following this post. Here is my timeline (I might be off on some dates, just noting them down from memory) will come back and update.

Forms Filed:

I-765, Application for Employment Authorization

I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status

June 16th - Package sent

June 22nd - Notice of receipt

July 30th - Biometrics appt scheduled notice

August 5th - Biometrics appt letter received

August 21st- Biometrics appt

September 18th - Raised SRE

September 19th - Case Updated I-485 Notice of Interview scheduled to register for permanent residence or adjustment of status, a letter will be mailed.

I raised an SRE because I was expecting to receive an (Employment Authorization Card) while the case is processed to register permanent residence (aka get a green card). It looks like they skipped right over the I-765 and going straight to the I-485 decision. I called USCIS customer service and they mentioned that there is no specific rule that you need to receive an Employment Authorization Card before receiving your green card.

Did anyone have the same experience, meaning you didn't receive any type of work authorization before your final I-485 interview?

Thank You!

Processing of the I-765 takes more than 90 days currently, even 100+ for others. Depending on how fast your local office is on the AoS part, you might even get your green card before they do something about the EAD and AP.

so yeah, wait till 90 days on EAD then call them again. For now all we can do is wait.

Hi Anthony & Bobby,

Thanks for your reply, so if we get the green card then what's the point of the EAD? Just wondering if at that point if it matters.

Congratulations! I'm glad to know you've received your EAD. Our timeline is so similar! I should probably start checking our mailbox more often. Haha. Can you let me know what's required to apply for SSN? Hopefully your interview comes soon as well. At least having the EAD would make the wait more bearable!

Hi Gaby,

If you got your green card before EAD, then the EAD process will be automatically closed since green card covers the functions of EAD, that's why if you got approved green card on the spot, then the interviewer would take away your EAD or tell you to return it to a specific office.

I am not a lawyer,so  for your reference only:)

Just received my EAD card in mailbox!:)

it's a USPS priority mail with tracking number, sent on 09/20 and arrived on 09/23, so 2-3 business days shipping.

So if after" card was mailed", you don't receive the cards in 2-3 business days, try to call them, they have the tracking number in hand.:)

How long does it take to get the EAD card in hand after status changes to new card being produced

There's usually one or two more updates after that. One where it says, "Case Approved" and another saying, "Card has been mailed to you". The card usually arrives within one week after the card mailing notification.

sorry for the late reply on this one. i guess it matters when you do get it before the green card. it doesn't matter anymore if you get the green card earlier. so it's only really worth pursuing if you haven't been scheduled for an interview yet.
