(CNN)After meeting with Muslim leaders in Saudi Arabia and visiting sacred sites in Jerusalem, President Donald Trump's tour of world religionsconcluded Wednesday at the Vatican, the Catholic Church's holy headquarters. 

There, at the Apostolic Palace, Trump met with Pope Francis -- finally. 
It's a meeting millions have been waiting for, an encounter between two of the world's most intriguing and complex characters: The holy man in white who preaches good news to the poor and the brash businessman in the dark suit who embodies American extravagance.

Tradition.  First Ladies always wear a veil when meeting the pope.  Vatican protocol that women cover their heads.  When former the General of the Salvation Army who was a single female met him about 5 years ago she wore her hat which is not a part of uniform anymore.

Wasn't she brought in the former Yugoslavia?  I know when many women from Eastern Europe go into a church, they cover hair.  Katya does it anytime she goes into a Russian Orthodox, or Eastern Orthodox church along with wearing a skirt.

Some Traditional Catholics also still wear veils, usually lace ones, although it's not as widespread as it used to be. The one Melania is wearing looks pretty standard for Catholics. The one that Ivanka wore looks very odd though, hah. But there isn't a set standard for it really since it's a bit of a dying tradition anyway.
