Evidence of a Bonifide Marriage

Hello all. 

 

I recently got married in Korea. I am in the process of filing the i-130. I want to see if what I have will suffice for the Bona Fide Marriage proof. 

 

Currently, I have:

 

- photos of us

- instant message logs

- Skype logs

- airplane tickets of me going to Korea

- airplane tickets of her coming to America

- a ticket of us going on a trip together

- a few Airbnb itineraries with both of our names on it

- an official English translation of our marriage certificate that we got in Korea

 

We have sent each other gifts and letters, but we no longer have receipts or envelopes. 

 

I bought her stuff from Amazon and her name is in my Amazon shipping address book. Don't know if I can use this as proof or not. 

 

She will live in korea and I will live in America until we get all of these things settled. To be honest, we are both too busy to frequently travel and see each other. 

 

Anyways, do you think the proof that I currently have will suffice to get the i-130 approved?

Added additional details for clarification

Make sure you put together the itinerary, accommodation details, and photos for the trip you took together. Likewise pair flight itinerary and photos together from the trips to meet each others families.  I did my photos in a collage and gave each page a title explaining which trip it was etc. With wedding photos try to include lovey-dovey ones of the two of you, a photo with family, a photo with all guests if you have one etc.

 

With the marriage certificate include a photocopy of the original, as well as a photocopy of the translation, they'll want to see both. 

 

I suggest a cover letter explaining your relationship timeline.  Where and how you met, how long you've done long distance, why you're unable to be in the same country now, and what your future plans are together.  It's a good precursor to the evidence.  I explained the above as well as included a "table of contents" in the letter.

The evidence that you mention it's ok, the english translation is not evidence of bona fide marriage but is still a required document. No one can tell you if it will be enough to be approved, except USCIS.

Don't forget that till the day of the interview you need to keep collecting evidence in case is requested that day.

Don't forget to include photocopies of the original marriage certificate or any other documentation that was translated. For all translations, photocopies of the original and the translated document should be included.

 

as for the letter detailing out your relationship, it should be titled "evolution of relationship."  You can find a few decent samples on google.

 

Also, it may help to include financial ties such as adding each other as an authorized credit card user or as a beneficiary to savings plans, investment accounts, life insurance, etc.  these things can be established despite residing apart and would also support a bona fire marriage.

Your evidence is not bad but to be sure you need something solid.

 

As said above. All i had was pictures and travel stubs but i added her to my credit card as a user and my life insurance,i believe that said a-lot.

You have great evidence of time together but where are the ties?

 

I of course can be wrong but this is my opinion.

I think what you've mentioned are good enough, I honestly didn't sent much for mine and didn't encounter any problems. Just provide whatever you have and keep collecting them, because she will need to provide them again during the interview.

The only "proof" you have is your marriage certificate, everything else is evidence.  The evidence you should mainly focus on is evidence of time spent together in-person which you have.  I wouldn't bother with the Amazon records.

Would receipts of our flights work? I no longer have my actual ticket stubs from months or years ago

The passport stamps and receipts in country are evidence of travel.  Itineraries are not.  It's S. Korea, not Nigeria.  Your evidence of time spent together in person is where you focus should be.  I wouldn't bother with evolution of relationship letters and a lot of communication evidence on a S. Korea case.  There are low, medium and high fraud countries, then there's Nigeria and Ghana.  S. Korea is low fraud.  Relax a little.
