It seems Putin had a long talk with the so-called president and told him to toe the line.

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump said Monday he would be willing to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un "under the right circumstances" to defuse tensions over North Korea's nuclear program.

"If it would be appropriate for me to meet with him, I would absolutely, I would be honored to do it," Trump told Bloomberg News in an interview Monday. "If it's under the, again, under the right circumstances. But I would do that."
No US president has ever before met with the leader of North Korea, and the idea is extremely controversial.

I'm pretty confident that if Obama said that the same people would applaud, much like they applauded his approach to Cuba. Trump makes alot of stupid statements...we already have several threads right now with his dumb comments that I admit are dumb(hence why I am commenting in here, not in there). However this one...he clearly stated under the right circumstances, which is fine and welcome, should it not be?

I'm sure he does not consider today to be the "right circumstances".

right circumstances = if N Korea decides to change its ways and/or seriously willing to negotiate...not saying it's going to happen, but what reason is there to already rule out any future meeting? I mean if Trump said "I will never meet this person no matter what" everybody would jump on that too, on how he's not flexible, yadda yadda yadda. I mean, there was a time nobody thought Israeli leaders and PLO leaders could meet either. I'd much rather see a meeting, that we don't know how it's going to end up yet, with North Korean leaders, at some point in the future if they are willing to seriously consider abandoning their ways, than what we already know happened with Iran and the horrible deal Obama made.

What reason would you have to believe North Korea if they said they would abandon their ways?

Personally, none. Does that mean you should rule out ever meeting with them?

I agree.  But I'll be honest, I would not meet with him, eat with him, go skeet shooting with him.  The man is dangerous

Exactly. We don't know exactly what the future holds. It is possible…although unlikely…that NK will change their ways. Keep the options open.

Would you meet with Hamas?

Under the right circumstances I wouldn't rule it out. The PLO in the 70's and 80's was every bit as bad as Hamas is today. If they abandoned their ways then there'd be something to talk about.

And you'd be honored? That's the dumb part of his statement.
