I'm not blaming anyone. Lol. Just didn't apply for it. I know many people who traveled on it and have problems. When I called immigration and asked them about it, they said AP it's not a gaurantee to get back in the country.

Of course they can't give you a guarantee that you will come back in. Even on a GC you are not guaranteed to enter that is only for USC.

Yes, I'll take my chance with the green card not the Advance Parole.

Welcome to the US.  Things work differently here than in many places in the world.

It's not illegal to contact your congressman for help.

It is illegal for a congressman to take money for help.  That's bribery and a crime in the US.  Not only would the congressman be in trouble, the payer would also be in trouble.

Well my friend it is a crime everywhere. Bribery is a crime everywhere and people do commit crimes everywhere.

Hello!

I had to contact my congresswoman for help with my K1 visa. It is obviously not illegal or else the congresswoman's office would not have case managers to help with visa issues.  They only help out if you have tried many other avenues.  However, once they agree to help you, the process moves along rather quickly because they have a specific amount of time to respond.  You have to go here http://www.house.gov/representatives/find/ and enter your zip code and click on your congressman's name.  It will take you to a website and somewhere on their page it should say "request help with a federal agency" or something of that nature.  From there, follow the directions and/or call the phone number.  I did these exact steps and had my rfe approval in 3 days....2 days before my petition expired.  Good luck!

As I mentioned previously, you can go to Google and ask for Congressman in your State....your area and give them a call.

I would suggest before contacting your congressman I would start at the lowest level and work your way up the chain.  I would call USCIS, and see what they have to say.  If no help, ask to speak with a Tier 2 agent, ask to submit a service request and so on.  If they can't help you or give you a case status and you are outside the normal processing times from the USCIS website then I would contact your congressman ONLY after exhausting all other avenues of approach.  There is nothing more that upsets people than jumping the chain of command.  So start low and work your way up.  That is my honest advice.

Also, if your petition is still at MSC and hasn't been transferred to your local field office, you are more likely to have your interview waived. Which as others have said, it can take a bit longer to get the letter telling you that you are approved, but then you don't have to worry about an interview. We had this happen to us, it took longer to get the notice then others that had to schedule an interview but we didn't have the headache of having to do an interview.
