I am about 3 months away from being able to submit my I-129F petition (waiting for divorce finalization). I actually have the form almost totally filled out, it's been filled out for a couple of months. Then today I saw that there's a whole new I-129F form on the USCIS website, as of April 10. Does this mean I have to re-do the whole thing? When submitting the petition, does the most current form absolutely have to be used? Thank you!

Always use the form you find on their website the day you send your application. While older forms might still be accepted, your case can still be refused and sent back to you. USCIS does mistakes like that quite often and it'll result in your case being delayed as you then need to resubmit it.

Since you're not sending your application anytime soon, I'd wait with filling out the form that is the latest one currently. They have changed forms so often lately that there might be yet another new one before you actually send your application.

Thanks so much!  I will hold off on filling it out, then (but it's so hard!!).

Yes you will need the most up to date version. I was also stuck with the same situation but with the Affidavit of Support, I had it filled out months before in preparation for my interview. So i had to overnight the form from the USA to Australia.
I now always check before i file anything as they seem to have changed a couple forms. Goodluck with it!

Best to go with the most recent one. I've noticed that quite a few people have gotten their petitions rejected because they didn't send in the most recent application even though the other one hasn't expired yet.

Ha, no worries. But even though it didn't pertain to me I read it anyway and didn't understand a word of it--what are these scans that you're talking about?

LOL! WHOOPS!!... I'm doing USCIS scans for the March I-129F filers so that we can know when they begin to approve the March petitions and see how close we are to getting our NOA2. It gives us a little hope to start seeing other March petitions get approved and to know that our time could be soon afterwards.

Ahh, I see. Thanks for explaining! Wow, I have so much to learn...Do users on this site "volunteer" to scan petitions every month?

Haha no worries. Yes one of the users from the November filers started the script that we run and started doing the scans to show the changes in status everyday and he's been nice enough to pass on the scripts and information to those who volunteer to run the scans for the other months. You'll get the hang of it soon enough and there's A LOT of good info all over this forum. We're all here to help one another like a big immigration family hahaha
