So this was the professor that tweeted about White Genocide.  Is he in the front of the line?

gee, if it were milo tweeting something offensive ya'll would be going on about snowflakes and safe spaces..

I do think it's odd that people talk about this yet then follow the left on getting offended. The right following the left in getting offended by everything only sends a signal that having thin skin isn't childish, and that it's perfectly acceptable. I'd say both sides need to grow a pair.

the big difference is the op concerns tweets from an individual and milo, as i was referring to him, concerns college seminars. so basically the platform of private opinion made public. in that light, outrage over the op is even more ridiculous.

I just wonder whatever happened to the idea that I may disagree or hate what you say or believe but would defend to the death the right of you to say it.

Now it's a race to see who can get offended first.  Then demand someone get fired or have another entity end all business associations with another because someone got offended.. it's gotten to a point where this is, much like the petty fights between Dems and Reps, utterly childish.

it's well within the professors right to speak his mind on twitter. it's also within the rights of the offended to respond. concerning the op, it looks like the 'outrage' is uncalled for and mostly misunderstanding..

Quote

The professor gave a statement to Fox 29, part of which reads: "Two days after U.S. airstrikes incinerated an estimated 200 civilians in the Iraqi city of Mosul, I sent a personal tweet in reaction to what I considered a smug and self-congratulatory gesture by a first-class passenger toward a uniformed soldier. Maybe predictably, my tweet has since been fed into and misrepresented by the outrage machine that is right-wing media. Needless to say, my personal views expressed off-campus have absolutely nothing to do with those of my employer, Drexel University."

A university spokesman told the news station that the professor's comments "are his own opinion and do not represent the University’s views. Drexel is committed to and vigorously supports our ROTC students, student veterans and alumni who have served in the military. Our support for student veterans has helped us create an inclusive campus culture that honors service and Drexel’s deep connection to American military history."

Female sex workers should be thought of in same way as male soldiers and boxers, Cambridge academic says

‘There is a logical inconsistency with the way that we think about consensual prostitution compared with the male-dominated spheres of soldiering and boxing,’ argues Dr Victoria Bateman

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/cambridge-university-economist-name-women-sex-work-earn-money-prostitution-a7659401.html

Writing in the Times Higher Education magazine, Dr Bateman said: “For society to be inconsistent is one thing. For supposedly rational economists to be likewise is another. As a profession, we economists need to be standing up to irrational societal norms.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I mean, stupid people aren't unusual, they just get way too much attention.

For example, liberals love to cite celebrities like they mean anything in elections, but mainly because they consider celebrities authoritative figures on political opinions (and they agree with them more often than not of course).

And sites that lean conservative like Breitbart or Daily Caller dismiss their opinions rightly, but then sit there and quote them all day long when they say dumb #######.

I don't get it. Well, I do.. because these tactics I suppose might be good at mobilizing reactionary people, but it's no less sleazy.

so, no fans of legal prostitution? i personally think that it should be a legal and regulated industry. i don't think either of you are grasping the connection the op is making with regards to selling one's body..
