EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

The Education Department faces a 14 percent cut under the Trump administration budget, which would downsize or eliminate a raft of grants, including for teacher training, afterschool programs, and aid to low-income and minority college students. The cuts would be coupled with a historic investment — $1.4 billion — in charter schools, private schools and other school-choice initiatives.

Cuts $3.7 billion in grants for teacher training, after-school and summer programs, and aid programs to first-generation and low-income students

"Significantly" reduces federal work-study aid to college students

Increases charter school funding by $168 million

Creates new private-school choice program with $250 million

Spends $1 billion to encourage districts to allow federal dollars meant for low-income students to follow those students to the public school of their choice

Yep, heavy cuts in education and the EPA. Look for Trump to ease the regulations on lead paint and asbestos next to insure the next generations of republican voters.

I will tell you that the EPA is a bloated ridiculous maze of  vague regulations that even the EPA does not understand. We use to get such replies as "We don't know if it is withing regulations or not, just do it and we will rule on it"

Having said that it is vitally important and has done a lot of good, it just needs a MAJOR do over.

Anyone that say we need to eliminate OSHA or the EPA is sniffing glue.

OSHA is fairly well run and the regs and assistance programs have saved hundreds of 1000's of lives and injuries.

seriously starting to think the main goal of the gop is population control by any means but birth control and family planning.

if you want to have a discussion about bloated ridiculous vague regulations, step in to my office and lets talk TTB/BATF/FDA and alcohol regulation/imported alcohol regulation.

Anything that works, so long as it doesn't tick off God.

health research, nah we don't need it!

Biomedical research and public health are among the big losers in the Trump administration's proposed budget.

The proposal promises:

A "major reorganization" in the National Institutes of Health, which supports most of the nation's research on diseases and treatments. That includes a cut of $5.8 billion, about 20 percent of NIH's $30 billion budget.
"Reform" of funding for the Centers for Disease and Prevention, which works to prevent, monitor and combat disease outbreaks. The budget mentions a $500 million block grant to states.
An additional $500 million for the Department of Health and Human Services to "expand opioid misuse prevention efforts and to increase access to treatment and recovery services to help Americans who are misusing opioids get the help they need."
Investment in "mental health activities that are awarded to high-performing entities and focus on high priority areas, such as suicide prevention, serious mental illness, and children's mental health." No specifics are provided.
Funding from the National Institutes of Health flows to more than 2,600 institutions around the country and creates more than 313,000 full- and part-time jobs, according to a 2016 study. So it's not obvious how slashing billions from the NIH budget, as the Trump administration proposes, will bring more jobs to America.

Well over half the Federal budget goes to the military and veterans, only the largest other spending areas even approach ten percent of that spending. Cut where the people are helped, spend even more on the military, save the ultra-rich a ton of taxes. Dear Leader, man of the people. Everyone deserves tainted water, no health care and no decent education. Unless you have the for sight to be born wealthy, to heck with you loser sums up the bigly great man and his really, truly the best plans.
