As relating to being a homosexual in a homophobic country and family against it (it sounds like), this could come up as a question or two in the interview.

I assume in Tunisia, family approval is a big deal and part of the cultural norm? If so, it could have an affect; but also it might not.

How the embassy in certain countries view a homosexual relationship while going against the "cultural norms" is still relatively new. So far it seems to be mostly treated the same.

They may just over look the family acceptance and all knowing that it would not be approved of by the family. It is hard to say exactly.

Just have all your documentation and paperwork in order and get read for the interview.

Getting approved at interview will depend on CO

If Tunsian Hired by embassy interviews you, could be bought up and cultural issue

If American, they can not discriminate for this

But understand visa approval is totally up to the embassy staff so be sure you stay serious in interview and know everything possible about your mate. they will test your relationship so be very confident in your answers

This is the problem, Seriously how someone independent enough to take his own decisions, My biological family doesn't approve homosexuality as they think we're mentally sick and we deserve go to hell and get through conversion therapy which is banned by law and Human rights. Sadly I can't tell them about my second-Half partner cause I'm utterly sure they can call the police and the government supports discrimination, THIS IS A NIGHTMARE !! Can't wait to get thorough the embassy !!!

Just a quick question regarding the order of events.

Did the lockbox deposit your funds before sending the NOA1?

I think I am just ahead of you in the process. I am currently filling out everything to send to the embassy and my Fiance is doing her part too, so if you want help or ffor me to just tell you what I'm doing I'd be happy to. Here are the basic steps that have been laid out for me:

1) Petitioner: Receive NVC case number (mine starts with MNL for the Manilla embassy)

2) Petitioner: Prepare affidavit of support and financial documents (for me this is step two because I am using a service and it takes them a few days to prepare this for me while I do other steps)

3) Foreigner: Get NBI clearance and cenomar

4) Either: Fill out form DS-160 https://ceac.state.gov/GenNIV/Default.aspx (DO NOT save and come back, it often screws that up)

5) Foreigner: Pay embassy visa fee ($265). Deposit slip here http://ustraveldocs.com/ph/pmisdepositslip.htm?amount=265&country=philippines

6) Foreigner: Set embassy appointment, call or go to http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ph/ph-niv-appointmentschedule.asp

7) Foreigner: Medical exam, at least one week prior to interview
