Moving country is a big deal, so if your fiancé is having doubts, don't just plow through it for the sake of following immigration protocol. You can pull your petition, maybe spend some more time visiting one another, and then he may be more sure about his decision. Being from Canada, I doubt pulling the petition will have any effect on another petition (for the same person) later down the line.

yes, exactly! pulling your petition wont have any effect.. i think that is the best thing to do. figure out what he wants and if your relationship goals match.. canada and reno may not be that far, but also canada is a great country, good health care ect and maybe he just doesnt want to live in the usa. think about moving there.

Personally I would pull the petition, work on your relationship, iron out the problems, then try again. It's a stressful thing, moving countries, and you really have to be 100% committed to get through it intact. Just take a little pause to work together; you'll probably be happier that you did.

Folks, the OP has never asked for relationship advice, and this isn't a relationship advice forum. I'm sure your concern is noted but she is pretty clear that she and her fiance are working through the relationship issues on their own.

While I agree with you, family immigration can certainly be a relationship issue.  Moving to a new country has a profound impact on romantic relationships.  Even with countries as close as the USA and Canada, the differences and similarities can be amazing.  Honestly, the best thing, if you do not want any relationship advice, is to never mention it.  As soon as you do, people are curious creatures and latch onto that.  But it is good to have the perspective of someone who has done this move so you can help your signifigant other with issues they may have that you may never have thought of.

I have to agree. If his relationship issues are causing immigration issues (such as missing a medical), then relationship issues need to be fixed before there are more immigration issues, such as missing an interview, failing an interview due to clearly not wanting to be there, coming into the US and not marrying but then maybe not leaving, coming into the US and having FURTHER issues that may stall out AOS.

I've seen enough people here NOT do AOS for their foreign spouse because they aren't sure the relationships working. I say if someone says their relationship is faltering pre-K-1 Interview then yes, we should try to talk them through it. Too many people go through this process blindly and follow the step by step and not realize that just because you got 90% the way through doesn't mean you actually should do it. Some people do it all simply because they were so deep into it, they would rather risk it all instead of take a step back and reflect on why they were doing this process in the first place.

And while they may be working through it, their interview is in 2 days from today. Issues big enough to stop someone from missing their medical appointment aren't usually something that can be hashed out in 2 days. We're trying to let her know there is the option of pulling the petition and then working on the relationship and trying again when they are 150% this is what they both want.

Without the relationship, there is no immigration, at least in cases like this.

Hi,

The interview didn't happen. :(  He called the embassy who said this stuff happens "all the time" and that our petition would not expire until December 31, 2017.

My apologies. I believe though that if you work hard on ya'll, you guys will be together eventually. You just seem to have more hurdles than most but if you're both in it together to jump those hurdles, you guys can do it. I wish ya'll the best in what ever choices you go ahead and make.
