HEY , is anyone here going to apply for the citizenship in December?

I think I will be applying in December right away. My window opened up earlier this month but just haven't had the time.

By which he did ascend.

Hi all,

To travel outside of the US, do we have to get the I-551 stamp, or is the letter and expired green card enough?  Thanks!

The letter and original greencard together should just fine as long as you are coming back before the expiration of the letter.

On a separate note.

Just applied N-400 on the 1st of December.

The i-551 stamp in the passport, serves as temporary evidence of the individual's status as a permanent resident. Now the question you have to ask yourself is "Is my green card extension letter about to expire(This is assuming that you have applied for i-751 ) or is my 10 permanent year green card about to expire?"

So if your green card has not expired or the 1 year extension letter you get when you apply for i-751 has not expired then you do not need an i-551 stamp.

My one year extension will expire next february(i751 pending). At that point I need to go get an I-551 stamp to keep my permanent legal status before the expiration date.

Hope this helps.

Hello all it has been awhile since I posted last. Let me tell you some good news. My wife has just received a letter stating her removal of conditions has been approved with a date of decision date of 11-29-17. This is for the VSC. Keep a look out I am certain more approvals will be on there way. Also it says her new green card will arrive within 60 days. So it will be a good holiday season. Are we the first January filers to get approved?

Next question is when can we start applying for citizenship? That's N-400 am I correct?

HI Everyone! I hope someone can help me or offer me some confirmation regarding a question I have to joint bank account as evidence questions (I don't exactly know where to ask this question). I am still preparing and gathering evidences for our ROC as well. I was wondering, how much balance or deposit should we have in our joint bank account? We have our own individual accounts but have a joint bank account that we use to pay for bills, church contribution and to send funds to each other. We probably only have an average of $1000 as monthly deposits through that account. We do have bank statements that goes back to date of our marriage and each statements has at least 10 transactions per month (usually 15 or more). Is that going to be okay? I just hope that they don't send us RFE's for not combining our entire finances. We prefer to do things this way, less fights and helps us keep an accounting of our expenses.

Hi SA_M,

I haven't checked the status yet on the USCIS website yet. I will let you know once I do though. But knowing USCIS it's probably not updated yet. I also have to find the original letter with my wife's receipt number.
