HI Everyone! I hope someone can help me or offer me some confirmation regarding a question I have to joint bank account as evidence questions (I don't exactly know where to ask this question). I am still preparing and gathering evidences for our ROC as well. I was wondering, how much balance or deposit should we have in our joint bank account? We have our own individual accounts but have a joint bank account that we use to pay for bills, church contribution and to send funds to each other. We probably only have an average of $1000 as monthly deposits through that account. We do have bank statements that goes back to date of our marriage and each statements has at least 10 transactions per month (usually 15 or more). Is that going to be okay? I just hope that they don't send us RFE's for not combining our entire finances. We prefer to do things this way, less fights and helps us keep an accounting of our expenses.

The USCIS dont care how much many you have on your joint bank account, what they want to see would be the transaction history of the joint bank account that shows both of you have combined assets and liabilities. Money comes and go so the he amount balance doesnt matter at all. My spouse and I have joint bank account that we use for our utility bills, payment for our apartment rent, groceries and entertainment (Movie date and dinner), portion of our paycheck goes to the said joint account to pay the said liabilities and portion of our paycheck goes to our personal checking account.

Hope this helps

The reason you have the extension letter is probably because your green card(I mean your physical green card) is already expired and hence you have applied for I-751 to remove conditions. So the answer to your question is to get the i-551 stamp at least 10-15 days before your extension letter (that said your green card validity has been extended by a year ) expires.

Piggy backing on this- I’m traveling next week and will be back before my extension letter expires (mid January). Can I still get a stamp in my passport after the letter expires. I can’t seem to be able to make an infopass at my local office.

thanks!

thanks!

I have traveled internationally twice, and both times I've used the extension letter to come back to the US with no problem other than having to talk to an agent directly.

The extension letter gives our GCs one more year, so that means most of us are fine with the letter until April 2018.

As far as i know you can specially for emergency cases, like travelling or new job that need to show your immigration status, just make sure you have your ticket to show to them so they can see that you will indeed travelling and need an i-551 stamp.

Thank you so much for your response. We do mainly use our joint bank account to pay for our joint dental insurance, auto insurance, electric and internet bills, and donations & contributions. Sometimes we use our individual accounts to pay for those when it's more convenient. But having our joint bank account does help us more accounting-wise. That's what I needed to confirm and I appreciate your input regarding this question :) Best Regards!

Thanks, I was also thinking that I would have until April to worry about a stamp but since tier 2 officer has told me that the extension letter date is what matters I got confused.

The officer was correct as long as your CR status while expire on April, so you dont need a stamp at all.

No, it is not the receipt date that you should look at on the extension letter. The extension of one year is from the 'Card Expires' printed on your physical green card.

So if you card says 2/20/17 then the NEW expiration date because of your extension letter is 2/20/18.
