Congratulations to all those who received approvals so far! Hoping for a speedy path from here to visa approvals!

Waiting for an update on my case is starting to cause anxiety. On top of that, my fiance will be going through (what I presume) an ugly custody battle with his son's Mom. I think it's starting to get the best of us, and our relationship. BUT, we are together for a reason, and we've toughed it out so far! I know my complaints are so trivial compared to what other couples have endured (going a lot longer without seeing your S.O., political/financial strife), but I just hope we get a glimmer of hope this week - a touch or something! I pray to you, Thor (lol).

Here's to a better week for us that are still waiting!

Try not to panic - i really think you are getting so close.  It could be tomorrow - it might be a couple of weeks - but you are so nearly there!  The increase in the processing numbers means everyone is much closer than we thought three weeks ago.  Your relationship is made of steel to be coping wth all of this.  Well done!  Hang in there - every day is a day closer xx

Go post office and ask them to forward your mail to current address. I would also check old mail box every other day or so, just make sure .

Sorry guys.... I looked up the DS-160 on the uscis website and i just dont quite understand. Should i be filling this out now and submitting it or do i need to wait until NVC... or the Nigerian consulate to receive my application. All this stuff is so confusing to me... i read the frequently asked questions and im still confused.

Also it asks for origin ...im african american...and nigerian.... born in america... but i dont see the united states as a choice so i put nigeria.... am i supposed to fill out my info or his because then next question asks... have i lived in any country besides my origin..... which was nigeria... i cant put yes because there is no united states...im so confused

Believe the DS-160 is for the beneficiary to fill out. I think once it is filled out you can schedule an interview for your consulate but will need medical exam also to bring to consulate also. Had your case been received by the NVC yet? I saw upthread where you were trying to call them.

You don't have to file anything to NVC.. just keep calling them to get your new case # (they will give you another case # so you can schedule you medical appointment).

no it hasnt reached them yet...but someone told me to start filling out ds160 and i didnt know if it was for me or my fiance.... im the petitioner. so does that mean i should wait until they get the packet? It asks for us social seccurity number...he doesnt even have a social yet so im so confused ugh!

WHAT should i be doing while i wait for NVC to get my application? I just want to do things asap because my trip to nigeria is in 4 weeks and it was so hard getting on the internet or doing anything while i was there.

The DS-160 is the form for the beneficiary (non-American fiance). It has many, many questions about the fiance - (legal information, prior visits to the US and any former tourist or travel visas, etc). Many people say it's good to fill out together to make sure you are answering the questions correctly, but it is for the beneficiary to ultimately sign. (There is an electronic signature at the end, which is just a button essentially that the beneficiary, not the American petitioner, is to press.)

Beneficiary needs to fill this out. But you can help him fill it out as I believe if you he fills out some he is given a unique passcode to save his place and must enter that again to start where he left out. So you can help him fill it out via Skype maybe or just wait until you get over there and do it with him. I believe there is a $160 for that application and he MUST have that electronic printed receipt with him for the interview
