HI everyone.

We started the K1 back in June. I'm Canadian and I'm trying to join her.

Our NOA2 arrived on August 24, and we're waiting on the NVC to have the case number, but they haven't received any information yet. We contacted a senator on October 19th but haven't received any answer yet, and the NVC is being pretty much useless.

My fiancé is starting to lose hope. She's going through a lot and I need to be there for her, but I can't. We're starting to lose hope. What can we do?

It isn't NVC's fault, it is due to USCIS. It happens sometimes due to USCIS ineptitude. Basically you have to keep the pressure on USCIS through service requests and whatnot. You can find some tips and advice on here if you search for prior postings on the situation.

Thank you for the information. We'll keep pestering them.

We did contact the senator, but we have yet to receive any answers.

Is there a reason why it can take up to 90 days? Is it an error from the USCIS in mailing the case or is there something wrong with it?

This thread is a good example of what can happen. Good luck,

No the USCIS sends the cases in batches vs each one. Some service centers wait for larger batches to send than others. Some adjudicators take longer to put their approved into the queue to send I'm sure as well. Typical government stuff.

Patience is key here my friend. Just do your best to make sure file did not fall in a crack. She will be down there with you before you know it. What you can do is find a way to enjoy the journey. I am sure there is a way you two can visit in the mean time. You got to keep the relationship healthy and not rely so much on immigration for it. Stay strong as a couple.

Good luck,

I'm actually the one going to her, but thank you for the kind words.

Sadly, she is very busy, and cannot clear her schedule especially during this retail hell season, as she will have to for the interview, so we cannot overdo it. Meanwhile, I cannot visit as the US border has been dubious of me for no good reason and refused me access once. We're afraid a second denial would incur a ban. I also need to be home here to proceed with the next steps should the NVC finally get our case.

All we can do is keep on pestering them I believe.

I do have another question.

My expiry date on my NOA2 is December 23. We haven't gotten our case number yet. How can I extend this expiry date? Is it possible at all before it reaches the NVC?

I've seen posts here mentioning your same situation. I believe the consulate can extend the validity of NOA2's.

Well to give an update to other people who might end up on this thread through searches:

Our congressman is still trying to get a hold of our file, but apparently, it was sent to the National Record Center.. most likely by mistake. As I understood it, this is the place cases go when they are inactive. It shouldn't have been sent there.

As I've seen someone else before say on another thread, if your case doesn't reach the NVC by 4-6 weeks, act. Contact them daily, contact your congressman. Something wrong happened.
